In an interesting story, Gemma Arterton (Tess of the d’Urbervilles, The King’s Man) has thoughts about the future of the James Bond series. This franchise has lots of curiosity since Daniel Craig ended his tenure with No Time to Die. Arterton also had a role in Quantum of Solace which she said was for “five minutes.” She still had words about the idea that Bond may become Jane Bond, saying, “Isn’t a female James Bond like Mary Poppins being played by a man?” She also adds that it’s an idea people would consider “outrageous” and sometimes we have to “respect the tradition.” Honestly I agree with her on this point. Sometimes an original story should be respected and we need storytellers who understand this. Although I will also say the James Bond movies aren’t something I obsess over. Speaking with The Times on this subject, Arterton additionally talks about other subjects, including intimacy coordinators and anxiety.
Ahead of its midseason January debut, Jenna Elfman has joined Shifting Gears in a recurring role. The ABC comedy will debut on January 8th. It has Tim Allen and Kat Dennings headlining as a father and daughter duo in a story about the pair having to live together again, but they don’t exactly get along.
LIST | 30 YEARS LATER ‘LITTLE WOMEN’ IS STILL A CLASSIC: THE MANY ADAPTATIONS OF THE FAVORITE
More than one article (first reporting from Deadline) and social media posts in the last week is teasing a new adaptation of the classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The film is from the Ian Fleming novel and takes place in the 1900s, telling the story about a magical car and the family who owns it. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a fun flick that perhaps would be considered uninteresting viewing today. The film has Dick Van Dyke starring, and the remake is reporting as a collab between James Bond producers and Amazon MGM Studios. Would you watch a remake of the 1960s film?
Just in case you missed it, if you were wanting to see the highly advertised film (with a blockbuster expectation) Red One, you’ll be happy to know it has made a debut on its production streaming home which is Prime Video. That’s right, as of yesterday, December 12, you can now stream the film on Prime Video. The movie features Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson and manages to work in a plot of giant abominable snowmen as well as a kidnapped Santa.
