It’s TV news this week including Christmas movie news. Let’s see what else there is.

POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and THIRTY-FOUR

There is Christmas movie news this week in the form of two favorite Christmas movie stars. First, Lacey Chabert and Kristoffer Polaha will pair up (for the first time I think) in Hallmark’s The Christmas Quest. This will be Chabert’s 15th during Hallmark’s 15th year of Countdown to Christmas. The story will follow Chabert’s archeologist and her ex-husband, “an expert in ancient Norse languages, who are sent to Iceland at Christmastime to search for a legendary treasure” and the film is on location, too. Then, news of Candace Cameron Bure’s with Great American Family also came out this week. She’ll play a diner owner who, when trying to save her business, finds an old recorded tape from her dad that sends her on a journey. No doubt, like many of the GAF films, this one will lean into sentimentality.

CBS’ 2024 fan favorite Tracker continues to do well with its ratings. The show made more than just rating headlines this week with the announcement that Melissa Roxburgh will star as the sister of Colter (played by Justin Hartley).

The Blake Lively romance, It Ends with Us, based on the Colleen Hoover novel again has a different release date. It will now release August 9 moving first from February to June 21.

If you love PBS’ Grantchester, the ninth season will debut on June 16 which will mark the start of Will Davenport’s swan song and the introduction of a new vicar even as detective Geordie finds his personal life in upheaval. The trailer is also on the Internet for those who love to see all the teasers.

QUIZ | ‘MEAN GIRLS’ 20 YEARS LATER: THE LEGEND OF THE QUOTABLE COMEDY LIVES

If you hang out here, you know that we had thoughts about Miss Scarlet and the Duke rebrand inspired by The Duke actor Stuart Martin leaving. Tom Durant Pritchard will step into the role of Alexander Blake will be playing a new inspector who is also a former soldier that Eliza will possibly work with, and maybe have be attracted to. That last bit irritates me to no end. Here’s the thing. If she isn’t going to be the one for the Duke, fine. But don’t tease another possible romance if the end goal is plans to bring Martin back as the Duke after he and Eliza have grown during this time.

Fans were angry this week over comments Courtney Love made about Taylor Swift, saying that she’s unimportant. Of course, the headlines mention that key phrase from Love saying the pop star is “not important,” but if you read the entire quote, it isn’t all negative, rather she goes on to say that while she’s a “safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, […] she’s not interesting as an artist.” Here’s the thing, this isn’t a terrible thing to say as opinion. A lot of Swift’s music, among almost any other artist, do put out similar (in themes) music which makes it hard honestly say artists put out unique albums. And I can understand saying some artists aren’t interesting. Doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy their music. The article also notes that Courtney Love posted something positive on social media about Swift in 2021. So, you know, everyone may be wasting energy on silliness.

Speaking of Swift, as everyone knows, the new Taylor Swift album The Tortured Poets Department dropped today. Have you been listening? I will confess, it’s been on repeat for me as I try to figure out which are favorites, which I loathe and of course, write the traditional ranking post.

We now ask you, which stories did you read about this week. Which ones are you keeping up on? Did any make you laugh? Let’s end our week talking all about the stories in the pop culture world.
