‘POLAR OPPOSITES’ IS AN EXCITING AND CHARMING WINTER ADVENTURE
Another title in the Winter Escape roundup of titles, Polar Opposites is not only cute with its title wordplay, but also because of its story too. Plus, it features a star familiar from many of these titles.
Polar Opposites (2025) TV Film Review
Her father is on an Antarctica expedition researching penguins, only now she loses communication with him, and so Emma (Rhiannon Fish) grows worried. Believing something is amiss, she makes travel plans to ensure he’s ok. She hits a snag though during the final leg of travel forcing her to seek passage on a ship that, well, technically she’s a stowaway on.
While trying to keep a low profile, she meets Andy (Markian Tarasiuk) an engineer that happens to be more of a rule follower…
TV FILM REVIEW | ‘BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS’ IS MAGIC ROMANCE WITH REAL LIFE MARRIED COUPLE

A film that is actually very winter-y, Polar Opposites seems to have a good deal of fun with its story. First with the title and then with the plot involving the characters rocky start in a kind of do-I-like-you-opposites concept. Likely as appealing is the fact that Rhiannon Fish leads the cast. An actress who has been popular in many such films, including many about conservation, which this film touches on in some avenues, too.
What I like most though is seeing Markian in another leading man role; I really liked him from Hallmark’s seasonal rom-com, Christmas at the Golden Dragon, from 2022, so it was nice to see him return to the network. The first meeting is simple, but effectively quite cute, too. Equally so is the passing time sequence of the leads getting to know each other. Emma’s career, courtroom artist, is unique as well since I don’t tend to see that type of job in a lead character. It’s seemingly insignificant things like this that sets apart a film like this.
The whole stowaway aftermath is a little silly, but I forgive this because the film is sweet. Quite adventurous, the film is another winner for any of us who enjoy the genre, and yes, there’s also lots of penguins, too.
