‘RUNNING POINT’ IS A BINGE WATCH NETFLIX WORKPLACE ADULT COMEDY
Many workplace comedies have been a thing in the TV land world. Through the years there’ve been good ones and so-so titles. Netflix tries its hand at one with Running Point, a series that returns a famous rom-com star to the lead role.
Running Point (2025) Netflix TV Show Review
A former party girl who didn’t get a degree, but is smart, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) comes from a legacy family business. Her family is all about sports and as owners of a basketball team, they’ve breathed and lived this legacy. She’s also the only girl in her family and as such, her input is never taken seriously. However, when scandal finds her brother, current president of the team, it’s Isla’s turn. She takes over and she’s ready to make some changes in order to save the long-standing tradition and prominent place this team has in the sports world.

Hyped for a while now, this series is set up to be, from what I see, a very girl-centric, power move kind of show. While this can be fun (and I love several stories like this), I’m very much in a place now where I want to see stories and culture, reflect partnerships and smartness for both sexes. Just because the sexes handle or deal with things differently doesn’t mean they don’t both have respective strengths and I think stories that reflect this are far more interesting versus something like this that gives us men who are (mostly) idiots. This said, the president of the team (the brother) is actually relatively smart in business but he’s also not smart because his choices mess up his good life.

This said, what is good fun is seeing Kate Hudson in something again. Fans of New Girl will also be excited to see Max Greenfield return to a kind of sitcom format, even if the traditional format isn’t the same. The script is very “now” as well. It’s trending in most of its banter which is fun and relatable but maybe a little too heavy on how much it leans into this. The show also has some more emotional elements, and it plays into a trope that I’ve recently seen in another show recently, which suggests it’s trending, but time will tell how it plays out (something I don’t know yet since I haven’t binge watched the whole thing yet).
Another thing that plays up are some stereotypes, which is again mostly done in a humorous way. If you like workplace comedies, then Running Point is fun. It’s very adult and may not appeal to people who like workplace comedies in the vein of Happy’s Place or Chuck, but if you don’t mind adult comedy (aka lots of language) then again, it’s a good time.

Content: this is a very adult show. There is the f-word (multiple times), along with profanity like shit, which is 100% the reason for its TVMA rating. A character is addicted to hard drugs which leads to a car crash in crowded outdoor seating. There is also sexual content and innuendo; a girl tells another she’d have sex with her right now but doesn’t mean it “literally.” A character had affairs, and children as a result. One character dates the same sex, if that bothers you. They kiss and likely there will be more to their relationship later on. Please note, this is based only on the first two episodes, which is all I saw at this point.

I like Max Greenfield in New Girl and I’m glad he’s back. This is on my watch list.
He’s so fun (what I’ve seen) in this one! And you’ve reminded me that I need to go back and finish New Girl! I never did watch it all the way through, but I loved that one too. :)
looks fun
It is! Silly at times, but mostly fun. :)
