15 BOOKS TAKING US ON A TRIP OR EXCITING ADVENTURE
Travel and road trips are something probably all of us enjoy now and then, some of us more than others. However, it’s not always practical for us to travel or go on those “big” trips we dream of. When this happens, one thing we can do is discover a novel or books that feature travel or adventure or a road trip. The task today is to try and find some titles that fit this and then feature them.
LIST | RATING SOME OF THE MORE POPULAR SHERLOCK HOLMES CHARACTERS!
As is my usual book list making rule, I am going to find books fitting this that are on my shelves. Though unlike my usual rule, most if not all of these are titles I haven’t read, but these do fit the books feature travel type of reading… of some kind! Let’s meet which books – or a sampling of them – from my shelf that fits.
BOOKS that FEATURE TRAVEL
PERSUASION, JANE AUSTEN
I mean, this one does take the core characters on a seaside trip, so I’m going with it. Obviously, I’ve only seen the films, so I assume the book also has a similar trip for the characters. Goodreads
THE CHAOS of STANDING STILL and THE GEOGRAPHY of LOST THINGS, JESSICA BRODY
The first book by Jessica is about an airport stranded heroine who needs to return home in order to honor the loss of her bestie. Then in ‘Lost Things,’ the plot is a road trip story, and I did actually read this one years ago. It was a sweet read if I remember right. It’s also the only novel I read by Jessica. ‘Chaos’ on Goodreads | ‘Lost Things’ on Goodreads
CITY LOVE, SUSANE COLASANTI
This series follows three friends, and while one is a native New Yorker, the other two come to stay for a summer, so for some of the characters, this one does involve travel! Goodreads
15 BOOKS TAKING US ON A TRIP OR EXCITING ADVENTURE. A list of “adventure” stories that take us on a trip! #TopTen #TTT #TopTenList #BookList #TopTenTuesday Share on XHEARTS OVERBOARD, BECKY DEAN
This one is about a cruise and a girl who, after a bad breakup, decides getting away is the ideal distraction. Goodreads
THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY, JENNY HAN
This series is, of course, known as being about a girl who spends every summer at the home of her mother’s best friend and the two boys who vie for her heart. It’s also a Prime Video series that is debuting its final season this summer. Goodreads
WITH YOU ALWAYS, JODY HEDLUND
I read this historical years ago, and though I didn’t read the rest, I seem to remember liking this one. It’s about a woman who, in order to support her sisters, decides to leave New York for Illinois in the hopes of better work. For the era, it’s a brave choice and I think a story that can still teach us a lot. Goodreads books feature travel

KISSES and CROISSANTS, ANNE-SOPHIE JOUHANNEAU
Ideal for anyone who has been obsessively binge watching Prime Video’s Etoile, this one is about an American girl who travels to Paris for an elite ballet program. Goodreads
SELLING OUT, MARTHA KEYES
This one is about musicians and a tour, and I think some travel across Europe. Goodreads
LOVE and OTHER TRAIN WRECKS, LEAH KONEN
We get to know two strangers who become stranded on a train while each needing to be somewhere. Goodreads
OPEN ROAD SUMMER, EMERY LORD
A “classic” kind of young adult novel, this one has two best friends going on a road trip that is full of music! Goodreads
AMY & ROGER’S EPIC DETOUR and TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT, MORGAN MATSON
One of these is a road trip story and I think is the only book by Morgan I’ve read. The other is less about travel and is instead about two besties spending a night in New York City. Still, it feels like it has a “travel” feel or element in spite of it not being traditional. ‘Detour’ on Goodreads | ‘Tonight’ on Goodreads
PARIS is ALWAYS a GOOD IDEA, JENN MCKINLAY
This is yet another one I don’t know much about, and it seems like it may deal in some heavier topics, but it’s Paris, so I also feel like it could be a good read, too. Goodreads
FIELD NOTES on LOVE and YOU ARE HERE, JENNIFER E. SMITH
This one is about a guy who wants to take a train trip-before-college in an adventure with his girlfriend. The thing is, she’s broken up with him. When he meets someone with the same initials as his girlfriend, the companion ticket becomes hers. Then You Are Here follows a girl who learns she had a twin brother, and the journey she takes to visit his grave. I think Jennifer has written more books that feature travel, too, but these are the two we’ll feature. ‘Field Notes’ on Goodreads | ‘Here’ on Goodreads
YOUR DESTINATION is on the LEFT, LAUREN SPIELLER
This one follows a girl whose family lives in and travels in an RV. This is all well and good until an opportunity that could help her realize a dream comes along. Goodreads
THE SUMMER of YES, COURTNEY WALSH
This is a road trip contemporary that’s more about friendship than a love story, but it’s still a sweet read if you like that type of story, plus it just screams summertime! Goodreads

Linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl May 20: Books that Feature Travel
Persuasion? Oh right. They take a trip to the coast and then another to Bath. Good catch!
I was just going off the films since I haven’t read the book (yet) but I remembered them travelling. :)
I love that you’ve included different genres here. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/books-that-feature-travel/
All about variety. ;)
With You Always sure sounds interesting.
It was! It’s been a while since I read it but I remember enjoying. :)
I’ve read a couple books in the Hedlund series, but not all of them. I liked the ones I read, so I should definitely go back to it. Thanks for the reminder!
Happy TTT!

Same here. I’ve read a couple by her, but there are still MANY I haven’t. May be an author whose books I should pick up more. :)
I have both of the Jessica Brody books on my physical TBR. I’m hoping to get to them both this year.

I read one of Jessica’s and it was a sweet read so hoping the one I didn’t read is also cute. :)
Persuasion is a wonderful book, and I think it definitely counts! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
YAY! Glad it fits. :)
Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is such a classic roadtrip book! I wasn’t a big fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty books, but I do want to give the adaptation a try.
Fun list, most of these are new to me. I like The Summer of Yes, but I didn’t love it.
