‘ART DETECTIVES’: STEPHEN MOYER IS PRODUCER OF THE NEW ACORN TV MYSTERY
Acorn TV brings to life another exclusive series that proves to be (again) an entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable mystery. Only this time, we get into the “white collar” world of crimes (and yes, there is murder, too). Art Detectives gives us six episodes telling a fabulous collection of stories with a well-known actor in the lead.
Art Detectives (2025) Acorn TV Review
Cases that involve rare paintings and artwork bring with them the arrival of the well-versed DI Mick Palmer (Stephen Moyer). He’s good at what he does and knows his art history. On his latest case, the murder of a man who seems to have big secrets to reveal, he works with DC Shazia Malik (Nina Singh), a good investigator who seems to be watching Palmer at the request of her boss.
Time passes, Palmer works the case while Shazia reports on his progress. When the case gets solved, they put aside her reporting, and decide to work together, which then means Mick and Shazia form the sole investigators in his division. Despite their size, the keen insights they each have makes them ideally suited for solving these crimes with these usual components.

Share on XYet another new drop that gets exclusive U.S. streaming on Acorn Tv, Art Detectives is quite entertaining. Just as is true of any new show from this branding, this one has a splendid cast and an intriguing premise as well. It’s one of those that is so very easy to watch, and while he serves as lead credited star, Moyer also exec produces this six-episode run. Though not from anything I’ve seen, Moyer did earn popularity though 80-some episodes in a genre specific show from the 2000s, and I’ve seen him in some roles (including that Disney TV flick Princess of Thieves) here and there. He’s good in this show and I think his years of acting experience are put to good use with Mick. He plays this character as someone I’m going to enjoy getting to know.
The show, as usual, is something that is perhaps best to enjoy as a binge watch. There is lots of good acting, and the production quality doesn’t shirk. There is also a kind of curious past set up for Mick and his father, which I am sure will be complicated. Plus, there is a little budding crush situation between two characters, and I have a feeling, it’s going to be cute albeit likely slow burn. In the end, like any of the other favorites I have with Acorn TV, Art Detectives is something I look forward to more of, and am hopeful it gets additional season orders, too!

THE EPISODES and THE TRAILER
Based on what I see and can put together, the final four season one episodes will drop on the following days:
Episodes one and two, of season one, streaming now on Acorn TV
Episode 3 of Season One – June 16
Season One, Episode 4 – June 23
Episode 5 of Season One – June 30
Season One, Episode 6 – July 7
Content: In the two episodes I saw, there is nothing in this you won’t see from other Acorn TV or cozy mysteries (think The Chelsea Detective or Harry Wild). There are bodies and crimes, but there isn’t anything I would describe as “graphic.” The series rates TV-14.
Sincere thanks to Acorn TV for the opportunity to screen this series. All opinions are my own.
