‘A BESTSELLING KIND OF LOVE’: AN EASY TO FIND ROMANTIC COMEDY

One of those easy to find streaming rom-coms (so not an underrated title), A Bestselling Kind of Love is still cute and something fun to watch at the end of a long day.

A Bestselling Kind of Love (2024) Film Review

Writing a bestseller as an author who indie publishes isn’t something Sophie Wood (Ashley Newbrough) anticipates. Yet here she is, a name in newspaper stories and about to be sent on a modest but important book tour. Thing is, this presents a big problem for Sophie; she and public speaking aren’t exactly on speaking terms.

This inspires her publishing house to request Sophie work with another of their in-house talent, Daniel (Jason Diaz), a coach who helps people with their fear of public speaking. The pair begin with a bit of friction but eventually find out that working together is easier than they thought.

This film is on par with prior titles in this same genre from the same production companies (the former Reel One Entertainment distributes this). The film gets drama heavy in the final “act” which is a little bit silly simple because it feels so repetitive. Still, the story is also stereotypically sweet and has plenty to cheer for.

I like that the heroine is an author, and I think even Diaz’s Daniel is a more unique profession than most, so that also helps to give this title a bit of space from its peers. Newbrough’s Sophie also has some characteristics many of us, I am sure will relate to. Then there is Will Bowes serving as director; this is his fourth film in this genre where he serves as director in the directing chair.

This one has appeared on UPtv and is also readily available on multiple platforms so there is easy access to see this one. Again, there isn’t much more to say about this film. It follows similar patterns to almost any direct-to-streaming rom-com from similar production companies and has plenty of good to cheer on.

Stream, at publication, A Bestselling Kind of Love with Prime Video or UP Faith and Family; or find streaming free on Pluto TV, Roku Channel or Youtube

Content: nothing to note. This is the usual TV-G rating that has nothing except for a kiss or two.
