‘UNTAMED’ IS A GRITTY LIMITED NETFLIX DRAMA

An exclusive on Netflix, Untamed is a show that lives up to its title.

Untamed (2025) Netflix Limited Series Review

Working for National Park Service, Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) works as an agent for a special branch. He’s boss of the park rangers, but he’s not a man anyone likes – and we wonder if he even likes himself. When a brutal accident happens and a woman, after tangling in the lines of climbers, dies, Eric has to lead an investigation he never expected to run across.

Right at the start of this show, you can tell it has some interesting things working for it. One of which is the beautiful scenes of nature and the gorgeous images of the big and unique looking mountain-like structures. They are somehow quite imposing and majestically impressive all at once. The cinematography and way the show is shot is also impressive and has some pretty unique looking scenes and angles. All of this I’m sure is employed to better show off nature.

This is also a limited series according to its title page which I appreciate because this way we know what we’re getting. Only six episodes, seeing this story all connect is fine because there’s an obvious end in sight unlike weekly network shows that seem to have never-ending loose threads. The end of episode one also reveals secrets our leads have or tragedies they endured even if we don’t know the “how” of the secret or sorrow.

The series is good and I enjoyed its unfolding. The cast is also really good too from familiar to newer talent. We also have Wilson Bethel who millennials will know from Hart of Dixie. I didn’t get the chance to finish watching this series, but I like it so far. It feels like a slower place but somehow still makes us want to know what comes next. It’s an easy thing to let the next episode play on.

Stream, at publication, Untamed exclusively on Netflix

Content: This does have the f-word, but for the rating, it tends more on the tame side. Flashbacks revisit death and there’s an idea that suicide seems preferable for some people. (Someone does commit suicide and another takes a bottle of pills.) People discover bodies including a skeleton. A couple has sex (we see them kiss and begin to undress before we find them in bed together post-sex). There is a lot of talk about drugs. The series is TV-MA.

  1. I love the beautiful scenery! I have this on my list to watch. Only 6 episodes will be watched on my just rest day lounging. I have very few of those, but I plan it all to make it enjoyable. I loved your review, especially breaking it down with all it contained. The F word doesn’t bother me.

    1. I enjoyed this one, Audrey – and I’m glad the language doesn’t bother. For this rating, I actually realized (the more I watched), the profanity was quite “mild.” Hope you enjoy this one! I thought it was quite interesting and that scenery? So stunning! :)
