‘ERIN BROCKOVICH’: BOLD HEROINE TAKES ON BIG CORPORATION
Inspired by a true story, and featuring likable stars, Erin Brockovich celebrates twenty-five years this year. This means it’s time to add the film to our review archives.
Erin Brockovich (2000) Film Review
Struggling to keep her bills paid, Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) is out searching for a job every day. As if her worry over buying groceries isn’t enough, on the way home from an interview, a driver hits her. This sends her to a law office where the lawyer tells her they’ll win. When they don’t, Erin takes matters into her own hands. She returns to the law office and despite his objections, she convinces Mr. Masry (Albert Finney) that he has to employ her.
It’s in this job that Erin begins to investigate a company that allows toxic material to affect a community and the people suffering the aftereffects from this powerful corporation.
FILM REVIEW | ‘UNSTOPPABLE’ IS A STORY INSPIRED BY REAL LIFE

A film with respect for more reasons than one, Erin Brockovich is a surprisingly good movie that has the benefit of being inspiring. Inspired by the real life of its titular heroine, this film is directed by Steven Soderbergh and boasts multiple award nominations and a good number of wins, too. Its biggest of which may well be the Oscar win for leading lady Julia Roberts. It’s a win that I think she did deserve, though don’t ask me to compare her to her fellow nominees of this year. That I cannot remember.
The film is one that has star power in front of and behind the camera, and this translates well to how the story plays out. The scenes between Roberts’ and the victims serve the story well because of how the actors play them. The story also has excellent performances which is why these scenes are good. The story inspires, yes, but it also makes me really sad, for more reasons than one.
If you like stories inspired by life and people who do things that are unique, well then, Erin Brockovich is a movie worth making time for. And if you’re like me and having seen it in likely ten some odd years, it’s still worth seeing.

Content: the film has multiple uses of the f-word as long as shit. You also hear quite a bit of GD. Some remarks about sex do crop up (someone tells someone else they won’t get “laid”) and some other innuendo comments here and there. There is also sex implied between a couple. They kiss and talk before the shot cuts to after with her in a bra and him in bed. They flirt and kiss some more before the scene cuts. The film is R.

This was a good film!
Very good. This is probably only the second time I’ve seen this one but it’s a solid production and story. :)
