I’m not in the camp of let’s post all the Christmas things now that September is here, but from a marketing viewpoint, well, this seems the thing to do now. One of the Christmas-y things it’s quite time to discuss (and yes I am 99% sure this is the earliest I’m ever posting Christmas content) is the upcoming news Christmas fiction of 2025! Lots of familiar authors are releasing new books in the Christmas genre this year, but there are some newbies jumping in too.

From romance and comedy to some heartfelt novels, there seems to be a nicely rounded group. I rarely read Christmas fiction (because I only like to during the season), I also add some new titles to my shelf! While this won’t be a list that features every new book coming to shelves (because some dates come later and others just don’t fit the typical content) in the Christmas fiction 2025 release lineup, this is still a place for lovers of seasonal reads to pick a new favorite (or two!).

This follows a woman who returns home to be with her mother and help her run the family business. ONCE UPON a CHRISTMAS CAROL, MELODY CARLSON

At only 170 pages, this is a story form a popular and well-known author about a woman who isn’t the biggest fan of Christmas after growing up in a dysfunctional family and a birthday on December 25. Her plan is to head to the Bahamas only for her to instead get stuck in Michigan. Goodreads

Second chances is the theme of this novel. It’s about a woman returning to a place where she felt safest in the wake of a curious family scandal. Boasting a cute premise, this one follows a woman who decides to visit her family over the holiday on a whim only to discover they had the same idea! Now she has to share a house with a New Yorker whom her family swapped homes with. Goodreads

HOLLY and NICK HATE CHRISTMAS, BETSY ST. AMANT

This one is published by a Christian publisher and is a story about a woman who hates Christmas and then is set up with an equal Grinch. The novel is tagged as being a romcom and sets up a kind of “competition” between the two who try to “out Christmas” each other. Goodreads

This one follows a woman who, in a very out-of-character move, had a one-night stand six months ago. Worse still, it was embarrassing when the hockey player disappeared next day. This one is advertised as being written by the writer of Netflix’s A Christmas Prince (which we all know was entertaining and sweet). This plot is another royal contemporary about a princess who loses the queen’s “mischievous” dog. This leads her to Justin, an American whose profession is to train dogs. Sparks fly between them as Ava and Justin discover they quite like each other. Goodreads

This sone is a “forced proximity” story that is said to be Gilmore Girls meets Charmed. Goodreads

This one is a young adult tile about a seventeen-year-old who has gone to boarding school in New York. This is a reunion story between best friend’s even as she brings her new boyfriend home with her. Goodreads

A faux dating situationship, this one does the trope a little differently. This one is about a faux dating relationship that is between exes! Finn wants to fit in with his mother’s perfect Christmas and so he needs Melanie to pretend to still be in a relationship with him in order to survive his Christmas week in Scotland. Goodreads

THE CHRISTMAS BOOK FLOOD, ROSEANNA M. WHITE

Set in 1944, this Iceland novel follows a woman who welcomes her niece for the season. Described as a novella (the book is said to be 175 pages) and is a WWII novel about a “sweet holiday romance” that uses the friend-to-more love story. Goodreads

Looking to heal and find hope again, Laney returns to Cherrywood Creek, her hometown. It’s a place full of festivals and of course, snowy streets. Like many others, this one is a second chance romance story. Goodreads

GRACE and HENRY’S HOLIDAY MOVIE MARATHON, MATTHEW NORMAN

This novel sounds poignant about two people who, after losing their spouses, are brought together through their grief. They end up binge watching iconic Christmas movies. Neither one wants a romance, but through this unusual match, they may find healing. Not sure what this one would be like, but it may be the one on this Christmas fiction 2025 list I’d be curious about. Goodreads
