REMEMBERING TREAT WILLIAMS AND SOME OF HIS BEST ROLES
It’s been a couple of weeks now since the news broke that actor Treat Williams had died following an accident. At the time, I was in a busier week and then after that, I couldn’t devote the time to writing new content, so I let the news go outside of mentioning it in our weekly pop culture roundup. The idea was to share a few of the roles I’ve seen Williams in and why they’re favorite. Largely because while I like him outside of his roles on Hallmark, he’s a fan favorite actor from the beloved network. This is why today we’re celebrating the many roles of Treat Williams. treat williams movies
LIST | RANKING JEN LILLEY’S HALLMARK MOVIES
REMEMBERING TREAT WILLIAMS AND SOME OF HIS BEST ROLES. #Hallmark #BlueBloods #TreatWilliams #Movies #ChesapeakeShores #Chessies #OBrienFamily Share on XWilliams has, from what I know of him, played many a patriarch and father character. From his early 2000s show as a dad to his eventual role as the father of five kids in Hallmark’s Chesapeake Shores, he plays the role of dad well. This is likely the sort of role I know him best as, but we’ll take a closer look at his filmography and see what else he plays in.
THE MANY ROLES OF TREAT WILLIAMS aka TREAT WILLIAMS MOVIES
AGAINST THE WALL, TV Show
WHO: Don Kowalski, father of the leading character
I watched part of this short-lived TV show about a detective. But honestly, I don’t remember Treat in the role of Abby’s dad.
BAREFOOT (2014)
WHO: Jason Wheeler, father of the hero
This is a film I did really enjoy about a man who is kind of a loser. He picks up a psychiatric patient who ends up pretending to be his fiancée.
BEYOND THE BLACKBOARD (2011)
WHO: Dr. Warren
A Hallmark Hall of Fame original, Emily VanCamp, a former co-star of Williams, leads the cast in this film.
BLUE BLOODS, TV Show
WHO: Lenny, former NYPD officer and friend of the police commissioner
Treat Williams plays (in sporadic episodes beginning in season six) an old pal of Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan. In fact, he just appeared in a recent TV episode from that last season, and given his storyline in it, I wonder if they’ll pay tribute to him in the upcoming fall season.
CHESAPEAKE SHORES, TV Show
WHO: Mick O’Brien, patriarch and father of five O’Brien children
This is perhaps the role I think most of when I think of Treat Williams. He’s quite good in this role and plays father well. If the multiple tributes to him from his co-stars are an indication, he did sound like a cool guy always wanting to entertain everyone around him.
EVERWOOD, TV Show
WHO: Andrew Brown, single father and doctor
Running from 2002 to 2005, this is a popular favorite show about Treat Williams single father who moves his family to Colorado after loss and settles into small town life as the town’s doctor. Pretty sure I’ve seen only two or so episodes of this one. Is it worth a good binge? He shares co-star credits with the likes of Emily VanCamp (who he later shares credits with) and Chris Pratt, who also wrote a tribute to Williams.
FRONT OF THE CLASS (2008)
WHO: Norman Cohen, father of the lead character
Like Beyond the Blackboard, this is a Hallmark Hall of Fame film that I haven’t seen in years. I remember thinking it was a good film though about a kid who overcomes Tourette’s and becomes an inspirational teacher.
RIDE, HIDE, FIGHT (2021)
WHO: Sheriff Tarsy
I cannot remember if I met his character or not. However, I did start this film a while back. I do intend to watch it in its entirety but the subject is intense so I never finished it at the time. This said, the production quality is really good.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS (2017)
WHO: Roy, uncle of the leading lady
A Hallmark Christmas film, Williams is no stranger to playing the father-ly figure or this network.
SECOND ACT (2017)
WHO: Anderson Clarke, ceo and father
This is a film I recently re-watched and like anything else on this list, Williams is memorable. He plays a businessman but also his comfort zone role which is father.
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS (2008)
WHO: Jack Fuller Sr., father of the leading man
In this comedy, Treat Williams may be forgotten given the stars are Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher, but in this he plays father to Kutcher’s slacker character, and again, he does it with ease and in a memorable way.
…Of course, Treat Williams has been in multiple other films. From TV guest spots (like Brothers and Sisters and White Collar) and film (like Miss Congeniality 2 and a Star Wars film), to Broadway, he’s got an impressive resume. Make sure to leave your favorite roles of his in the comments, and tell me, what do I still need to see him in!
