THE POP CULTURE NEWS BULLETIN 209: A REALLY CHARMING COMMERCIAL ✨ Looking at the #PopCulture stories from the week. #GilmoreGirls #Panera #TaylorSwift Share on XTHE POP CULTURE NEWS BULLETIN 209
The Pop Culture News Bulletin is a weekly roundup of the recent and trending news stories in the entertainment industry or stories that fall into the pop culture subcategory. Every Friday we feature stories that fit the content we frequently cover.
THE MILLINIEAL LOVERS DREAM
Just over a minute is the runtime of THE most fun news of the week! We speak of the collaboration of Panera Bread and Gilmore Girls stars to launch their fall menu. In the commercial, Jared Padalecki (who played the high school love of Rory) lament about the same thing happening every fall, and wondering why the attraction of a “bad boy” who left without saying goodbye. We see his dining companion is Matt Czuchry who played Logan, Rory’s college boyfriend.
The commercial is a mere minute and five seconds, but it’s enough to charm any Gilmore Girls fan. It’s also very timely (and I am sure purposeful given the show is now entering its 25th anniversary). We celebrated it with a little list plus a giveaway.
LAST THINGS
Headlines broke this week that Hallmark has entered a multi-year licensing deal with Netflix.

In part what this this means is their (very) popular show The Way Home will begin (October 1) streaming on Netflix with the next-day Hallmark+ window still holding for the 2026 fourth season. According to the stories, this agreement also looks to license select films for international markets and will also allow for a few Christmas and rom-com movies appear on Netflix. The primary library of titles will remain on Hallmark+. This is just a choice that will hopefully give Hallmark a wider reach. Will you be using Netflix to watch Hallmark?
Speaking of Netflix things, the streamer dropped the trailer for the second season of Nobody Wants This. The drama is an adult rom-com that follows Kristin Bell’s Joanne and Adam Brody’s Noah as they hope their connection and bond with each other is enough to overcome their differences, which includes faith.

This past week, Taylor Swift announced that she has saved some of “her best tricks for the grand finale” which in this case is another vinyl variant of her October 3 album The Life of a Showgirl. The Crowd is Your King (on Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer Vinyl) is what this edition is called and it’s reportedly exclusive to Target and Target.com.
Reporting is advertising the recent release of the Wicked: For Good as the final trailer which has an impressive number of views. If you’re one of the people (like me) who hasn’t watched it and you want too, or you want to see it for the one-hundredth time, check it out below.

That’s a funny commercial!
It is! Made me smile (and many others seem to like it too) when I saw it so I think it accomplished its goal. :)
