The Sunshine Murders (2025) TV Show Review
Hard working and a rule follower, Detective Helen Moustakas (Dora Chrysikou) is trying to find balance in her life. Between her ex wanting their daughter to attend another school, to her efforts to ensure her work reflects that she deserves this job as a detective. It’s a job that is hard earned. Her latest case involves the death of a man who otherwise seems in perfect health. Then life gets complicated when a stranger walks into her life.
Shirley Rangi (Emily Corcoran) is from New Zealand and arriving in Greece, she immediately seeks out Helen, the woman she now knows is her half-sister. An adventure for the country wife and mother Shirley while Helen finds this all a grand bother.

‘THE SUNSHINE MURDERS’ A FIRST IMPRESSION REVIEW: ONE COZY MYSTERY ☀️ Review of the new U.S. debut from #UPtv! Have you seen this one? Share on X
While there is no denying, this show is super cute and entertaining, I think it could have used a tiny bit of polish in its production. This said, again, The Sunshine Murders does entertain. Set in Greece, we meet Helen first, a woman trying to balance a very busy life and keep her teenage daughter on track even as her ex makes things (sometimes) difficult.
UPtv is where this dramedy is making its U.S. broadcast premiere. It’s also a show known as The Moustakas Sisters Mystery, and is something, for the most part, that is indeed a good time. Based on the two-part broadcast premiere, this show is heavily leaning into the “cozy” genre and if you enjoy things like The Spencer Sisters or just anything you find on UPtv, well then you should enjoy The Sunshine Murders. It’s full of lots of quirky characters and of course sunshine, too!
Make sure to check out the new 10-episode mystery season if you are a fan of the peer genre titles.
Episodes one and two aired tonight on UPtv; watch for weekly episode airings on Thursday nights

Content: There is talk of an affair and we see the couple together (leaving the room) but there is nothing graphic or no suggestive conversation outside of “knowing” an affair is happening. The show has a TV-PG rating.
