THE DRAMA of PERIOD DRAMA
The teaser trailer for Warner Brothers (written, produced and directed by Emerald Fennell) dropped. According to editorials, there is skin, a shirtless hero, corset ripping, fingers in mouths and well, lots of “we-made-a-smutty-period-drama” appearance. I didn’t watch the video (and social media seems to be iffy about this as an adaptation) but you can also see the teaser poster below which is being likened to Gone with the Wind. According to some social media users, feelings are low for this film. But there is some excitement too.
Shania on X says “the way this didn’t need to be a wuthering heights adaptation, like girl if you wanted to make a horny period piece then do that. no need to terrorise emily bronte.” Another X user is excited saying “This looks hauntingly beautiful… It’s gonna be an Unapologetically intense Love Story. I’m here for it.” Then, also on X, a reader wonders, “Have I been reading the wrong #WutheringHeights book this entire time?”
The film will drop Valentine’s Day and stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in this Bronte adaptation that is said to take liberties.
LAST THINGS
The upcoming (and likely to be heavily promoted) romance People we Meet on Vacation, based on the Emily Henry novel, dropped “first look” images this past week. You can check them out on various social media (below) posts. The film will mark the first role for Emily Bader since the cancellation of My Lady Jane and will costar Tom Blyth. It will, at present, be released in early 2026.
CBS dropped a trailer for Boston Blue. Donnie Wahlberg will return to his role of Danny Regan, a man who stays a cop but relocates to Boston (from New York) to repair his relationship with his younger son (who is now a cop, too). The original show was set in New York and a CBS production featuring Tom Selleck. See a teaser of what the show will be about (from Paramount Press) and a trailer for the fall debut dropped this week, so take a look.
BOSTON BLUE stars Donnie Wahlberg as he reprises his role as NYPD detective Danny Reagan in a universe expansion of the long-running top drama BLUE BLOODS. In this new series, Reagan takes a position with the Boston Police Department and is paired with detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. – Paramount Press
In TV drama renewal news, BritBox announces it will bring back Ludwig for a second season (which is in production now). David Mitchell will return and according to its social media, the streamer announced that additional cast will include Mark Bonnar, Sian Clifford, Ben Ashenden, and Rumi Sutton.

More international TV renewal news comes from Acorn TV, Signora Volpe with Emilia Fox is returning for a third season. The show is already in production as its social media caption reads “Italy is calling.”
In sad TV show drama news, Prime Video (after we shared last week’s roundup) cancelled Motorheads. According to articles, producers and the creator is shopping to find a new home for possible season two. The show had a ten-episode first season binge and followed siblings who, along with their mother, moved back to her hometown to be closer to their uncle. The show also dealt with various love matches, new school, friendships and the missing father of said siblings.
