BOOKS I’VE READ THAT OTHERS SAY MAY BE FUTURE CLASSICS

When it comes to gauging what had or will make a future classic novel, well, I’m no good. I’m also no authority on classics from the past so how am I to know what will be future success? Since I create these for fun I rarely (if ever) overthink my lists which is probably also why I repeat titles a great deal. Additionally, when it comes to the (modern) books with the classic label, I confess, they are rarely if ever books I think are “good” in the sense of I enjoyed them. So, yeah, I’m not a great judge clearly. Still, all this said, I’m going to try and find a list for a topic I know nothing about.

Classics of the future also seem like they will be determined by very different merit than past. Many classics that have stood the test of time are titles that didn’t see success until after the author had passed away. Future titles fitting the classic branding perhaps won’t suffer this same fate since I cannot help but wonder if things like social media obsession will be a determining factor in why or how a book is classified as classic.

No matter what may drive this, I’m going to share some of the books I found (and yes, I had to put some “research” into this list) that others are predicting will be future classics. So here are the future classic novels I’ve read (and some predicted to be so that I would consider reading).

    1. Its funny you say this because after the fact, I realized that I probably added some that already are classics… but oh well! Either way, it’s just fun to feature books no matter their status. ;)

  1. Three of these made my list today too! I can also see The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and Fangirls being considered as classics one day. I haven’t read The Giver, but from what I’ve heard from others it’s also a good choice!

    1. I have a feeling some of these are already considered classics (which I realized after the fact). I guess I just didn’t think that far ahead. I was looking at lists on other sites that were saying some of these would be classics so I relied on that and forgot to look at some of the publication dates. ;)

      1. ahah I feel like that’s okay because like who decides WHEN something crosses that line into classic territory right? :P
