‘WE MET IN DECEMBER’: TWO STRANGERS CONNECT IN LOVE STORY
Kicking off their always hyped Thanksgiving weekend of new premieres, We Met in December puts familiar faces in the lead of a story that has a more emotional backing than what we’ve seen so far.
We Met in December (2025) Hallmark TV Film Review
Travelling close to the holidays often means there are unexpected challenges, and for two strangers, this is their reality. A layover isn’t exactly what Annie Lane (Autumn Reeser) plans for, but it’s what she has and so she heads to a hotel. Dave Weeks (Niall Matter) is also a part of this unexpected layover. What neither one expects is to serendipitously meet while they both spend a night in this city where anything and everything seems possible.
Under the stunning lights of their decorated hotel, the pair spend the night talking and sharing dreams, opening up in ways they don’t to anyone else. Then, the next morning, they both have the same flight where they know they’ll see if they share a future. Thing is, they don’t connect one last time to exchange numbers. This sets into motion a search for one another where, along the way, they discover things they never expected to find.
TV FILM REVIEW | ‘HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A BILLS LOVE STORY’ COMBINES TWO ICONIC FAVORITES
‘WE MET IN DECEMBER’: TWO STRANGERS CONNECT IN LOVE STORY. #AutumnReeser and #NiallMatter co-star in a story of chance. #CountdowntoChristmas #WeMetinDecember #Hallmark Share on XThis plot is one I’m quite sure I’ve seen before, but I have to admit that I did very much enjoy We Met in December. It personifies charm and is a delightful way to spend a night in, snuggled in our favorite blanket or with a bowl of popcorn. The sense of chance and the larger scene moments being at night make the twinkle lights (obviously) shine brighter and while simple, I do think this adds to the allure of this title as a production.

Beyond this, we love to see these two lead stars back and it’s nice to see Niall Matter lead yet another (he’s been in several) Christmas movie. Leading lady Autumn Reeser is also no stranger to the season fare, but this is her first in about five years. It’s nice to see her again and in a role that she plays well. She also posted a social memory of her first Hallmark film (Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade) which she likens to this title, too.
In case I didn’t say it before, I highly recommend We Met in December. The story starts at the end of the meet-cute and interlaces the before with the present making it unique, and the script works for these two actors. Some won’t care for the conversational story. I enjoyed it and appreciate that, even in the limiting time, you still get a little deeper connection with the romance as a result.

Rissi, Thank you for sharing We Met in December. This movies sounds delightful.
It was! I’ve seen both good and “meh” reactions on social media, but I think this is one of Hallmark’s better offerings. :)
