SASH AND SWISH: SOME OF THE PRETTY ‘BRIDGERTON’ DRESSES
There isn’t a secret made of the fact that I don’t watch Bridgerton. I cannot remember if I watched the pilot episode and decided it wasn’t a “me” period drama or just followed my instinct based off the promotional lead in. However, whatever the case, based on recaps and the character profiles, I feel very justified in not watching it. The second part of season four dropped today and because of this, one thing I am going to take a look at is some of the pretty Bridgerton dresses that any fans will probably immediately recognize, and is something I do enjoy through the photos.

SASH AND SWISH: SOME OF THE PRETTY ‘BRIDGERTON’ DRESSES. #Bridgerton #SophieandBenedict #PeriodDrama #Romance Share on XJust in case you, like me (albeit on the off chance), don’t watch the show, the show is a period drama that makes its home on Netflix and is inspired by the Julia Quinn novels. The scripts have made changes which has caused controversy, disappointment and raves alike. It’s a regency set drama that follows the Bridgerton siblings and the ups, downs and losses they encounter during some of their crossed in love stories. The siblings number eight and each season is supposed to center on a different one with season one being Daphne (Bridgerton) and Simon; then Kate and Anthony (Bridgerton); Penelope and Colin (Bridgerton) feature in the third; and finally, concluding with today’s four-episode binge drop is Sophie and Benedict (Bridgerton).
I almost went a different direction with this list, and maybe I’ll keep that on the back burner for the future, but until then, let’s look at just some of the pretty dresses from this show. Even as a lay person who has no clue what actual fashion was in the various times of period drama, sometimes something looks too modern to fit, and so I’m just guessing at its unsuitability (and it does annoy me!). But with this show, I haven’t invested time or emotion in it, so I feel like judging solely on pictures makes it more fun! Likely, as is true of many shows, the costuming isn’t wholly authentic to its era, but despite this let’s take a look at some of the pretties from Bridgerton.
PRETTY DRESSES from BRIDGERTON
DAPHNE’S BALL GOWN and BLUE GOWN
Season 1
In what I am assuming is a gown Daphne wears to a ball where she, of course, dances with the man who ends up capturing her heart, Simon, she looks lovely in an elegant pastel-looking gown with floral appliques adding texture and femininity. Plus, while probably period authentic, the gloves always add that final touch of elegance and refinement – and let’s be honest, it also makes the dancing look prettier, too!
I also really like the blue gown she wears in a scene from episode four where she is having a jeweled creation placed around her neck!
DAPHNE’S LONDON DEBUT GOWN
Season 1
This creation looks stunning! It may be that on screen, watching this sequence and seeing how the gown fits or moves is different, but in the photos I saw, I love this entire costume.

It looks beautiful with its simple cream coloring and fabric, but the added gold embellishments elevates the design, plus places texture on the design, while the feather headdress is a dramatic finishing touch complete with some flair.
KATE’S TURQUOISE ‘FIT
Season 2

I do love a good outdoor scene and in this case, we have Kate, who Simone Ashley plays, in a jacket and dress complete with matching hat and she looks, based on the photos I browsed, regal, stately and quite lovely, plus fierce and simply put, pretty in this lovely ensemble. The tulle-like scarf addition is the finish feminine touch.
PENELOPE in PINK
Season 2
This pink number worn by Penelope (Nicola Coughlin) in season three of the show is quite pretty. In fact, I think it’s one of the prettiest creations I’ve seen this character wear. Of course, as is true of all of these ensembles, I don’t see everything these ladies wear as their respective characters because there are too many images to sort through. But this one seems prettiest.

I love the darker shade underneath the pink applique lace overlay, and the gloves she wears (as is always true) elevates everything in that final touch.
PENELOPE’S WEDDING GOWN
Season 3
Based on images, I haven’t seen a wedding gown worn by any of the blushing (or likely not blushing!) brides that I really love. However, I did take a look at Penelope’s again and do like it – or at least elements of it. I like the simplicity of the cut, though I am not 100% sure the tulle elements on the back completely win me over.
SOPHIE’S MASQUERADE GOWN
Season 4
This one is, of course, seen far and wide because of all the promotional material, with Sophie donning her gorgeous lacy frills which provides her with an ideal and romantic Cinderella-esque moment. The entire look and coloring and hair has her looking stunning, and very much like she belongs even though the idea is that Sophie is beneath (in the social hierarchy) the man who captures her heart.
This gown is, I think, the prettiest dress I’ve seen make its mark on any Bridgerton promotional material. The details of those sleeves! The diamond-like elements sprinkled throughout the bodice, and the applique dotting the skirt… it’s all just stunning! Plus, of course, the complimentary mask and long gloves mustn’t be forgotten either.
