‘A TASTE FOR MURDER’: BEAUTIFUL VIEWS SOFTEN CURIOUS MURDER CASES!

A new drop on BritBox, A Taste for Murder adds its investigative skills to the genre of cozy mystery.

A Taste for Murder (2026) BritBox TV Series Review

Terrible tragedy sends Joe Mottram (Warren Brown) running off to Capri. Along with his teenage daughter where the pair plan to stay with his in-laws for, well, an unknown length of time that includes the summer. His mother-in-law Elena (Phyllis Logan) is a wise, no nonsense woman who delights in her granddaughter being here. A detective with the Metropolitan police, Joe’s paradise retreat changes when he is pulled into a case while in Italy.

Alongside local Inspector Lara Sarrancino (Cristiana Dell’Anna), Joe lends his expertise and consults on a case, little realizing he may be planting some new roots.

Reported as filming on location in Croatia, this series is certainly gorgeous and is something that should charm fans of almost any weekly “cadence” (as the presser describes this one) crime show. From its stunning views to a talented cast, suffice to say, A Taste for Murder is worth giving our time to. With two episodes already available (and weekly episode drops on Tuesday throughout April), there is plenty of unique storytelling to come.

TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘CODE OF SILENCE’ TV REVIEW: AN EXCELLENT BUT TENSE BRITISH DRAMA

Most of this cast is unfamiliar, but I do think they are good. Phyllis Logan will, of course, be familiar to those of us who loved Downton Abbey, but for me, everyone else is new faces. And I have to say, I’m not mad about this. I love watching something with an unfamiliar cast, and this is especially true when they also portray likable characters in a compelling story. These characters certainly keep us invested with depth and humor, and good characters is something we all want. I think that there is pull and tug, but they also tend to (so far) get to the bottom of the pain or argument.

If you love mysteries, or don’t care about the genre but love stunning views, well then, I highly recommend A Taste for Murder. Delicious cuisine also plays an ideal role in this and seeing it makes it difficult not to want to visit Italy for its brilliant menu offerings!

Stream, at publication, A Taste for Murder (episodes one and two) on BritBox; or find to digitally purchase on places like Prime Video. Weekly episode drops will close out the rest of the season
