A western film, Where the Wind Blows is making a network debut on Where the Wind Blows.

Where the Wind Blows (2026) TV Film Review

Travelling and hiding from a broken heart where he leaves no roots in its place, Chase Logan (Trevor Donovan) is a loner. He rides with a man who is less than honorable, and when he is killed playing cards, Chase decides to deliver the news to his widow himself. Once there, he meets Jessie Strong (Ashley Elaine), a fierce woman who is trying to do it all her own including adopt a lonely girl.

Needing her husband’s signature, Chase reluctantly agrees to fill the role until the adoption is final and then he plans to ride off, little realizing that his life may never be the same.

As a production, I think this could have benefitted from a bit of polish just as the script would have been stronger with a bit of scope to make connections stronger. Where the Wind Blows also tries to do a little bit of flirting to form connection between the characters, but the script doesn’t really take a lot of time to fully flesh things out. (Even just allowing a bit more time would help.) Still, there is some laughs and even if the banter doesn’t work in this context, it’s cute because we like seeing leading man Trevor Donovan in something else, an actor we know from many a film before this.

Fans of Trevor Donovan will probably enjoy this, and if you like movies with a bit more grit but still purpose, well, this one will probably be a grand watch. I did enjoy elements of the film and found it sweet in many places. This one isn’t the same kind of “cute” as some you see on UPtv, but it still fits with its themes and while I wish the script had aged down a couple characters, it’s still about inspiration and creating a good life. You will also see an impressive supporting cast which includes Michelle Hurd, Colin Egglesfield, and Rob Mayes. You’ll also spy Lochlyn Munro, too.

If you like some of the Louis L’Amour adaptations or even the more recent Hope Valley: 1874, but can take a bit grittier, well I think you may find Where the Wind Blows good. It has interesting messages about choice and of course, is all about family.

Content: this one is a western or prairie-like story, so there is some violence and use of weapons; fisticuffs are exchanged a few times. Someone is shot and killed. A man tries to attack a woman and pins her to the ground. There is conversation about prostitutes and a couple lies in bed, sharing a kiss. A married couple spends the night together (we see them after sharing conversation). The film has a TV-14 rating. But the broadcast premiere may also edit some of the content.
