BEST FEEL-GOOD MOVIES on NETFLIX
ALOHA
Brandley Cooper leads this one that I only recently watched for the second time. It’s a fun albeit sometimes silly movie that follows Cooper reconnecting with an old sweetheart and the complications of doing the right things. Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams co-star as does John Krasanski in a hilarious role.
BANK of DAVE
This one is really cute and tells one of those impossible uplifting stories, and I think it’s also one that is inspired by a true story. It’s about a man who loans money to any in need neighbor, and eventually sets out to open a private bank so that he can help more people. This one also has a great cast which includes Phoebe Dynevor and even Hugh Bonneville!

Synopsis: After big financial institutions fail the people in his small town, a car dealer decides to set up his own bank. Starring Rory Kinnear (“The Imitation Game”), Joel Fry (“Cruella”), Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”) and Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”). – via Netflix
FALLING INN LOVE
Cute and easy to love, this one has some of the typical rom-com antics and is just lighthearted and lots of fun.
Synopsis: Gabriela Diaz’s (Christina Milian) San Francisco design firm folds the week of her break-up. Inspired by a potent concoction of wine and Wi-Fi, she successfully enters a contest to “Win an Inn” overlooking New Zealand’s countryside. Thousands of airline miles later, she discovers The Bellbird Valley Farm boasts a crumbling facade, floorboard-treading goat, and meddling neighbor who covets the space. Eager to renovate and sell the property fast, she partners with Jake Taylor (Adam Demos), the Kiwi contractor and volunteer firefighter observing much of her city-girl culture shock. – via Netflix
A FAMILY AFFAIR
This one is hilarious but also looks at some realistic issues or questions about a would-be romance. It also has a stellar cast which includes Joey King, Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.

Synopsis: A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity. – via Netflix
FEEL the BEAT
This one released in 2020 and may have been the first collaboration between Sofia Carson (who has gone on to co-lead many Netflix titles) and Netflix. I probably have only seen it once too, back in 2020, but I loved it. It was adorable, made me laugh, is downright cheerful and has a sliver of romance, too. It’s easily one of the best feel-good movies currently streaming on Netflix.
Synopsis: After failing to find success on Broadway, April (Sofia Carson) returns to her small hometown and reluctantly is recruited to train a misfit group of young dancers for a big competition. – via Netflix
FIND ME FALLING
Putting this one on a list of feel-good movies is well, stretching it just slightly. The film deals with suicide and has some other questionable quirks, but overall, I do think the movie keeps to a more upbeat value. It has Harry Connick Jr. playing a fading musician, and in response to this, he revisits a cliffside place in the Mediterranean that he once knew.
Synopsis: Coming off a flop album and his biggest hit’s dwindling popularity, aging rock star John Allman (Harry Connick Jr.) decides to take a break from his career to reclaim his spark. He moves to an isolated cliffside home on the idyllic Mediterranean island of Cyprus. – via Netflix
GOOD SAM
Synopsis: When a mysterious good samaritan, aka “Good Sam,” leaves $100,000 cash on seemingly random doorsteps, New York City TV news reporter Kate Bradley (Tiya Sircar) sets out discover Good Sam’s true identity and motive, turning her personal life upside down. – via Netflix
I FEEL PRETTY
I’ve only seen this once but I seem to remember it’s quite cute. It has Amy Schumer playing a normal everyday woman who suffers a minor head injury and when she wakes up, she is convinced she’s the most gorgeous woman ever. This newfound freedom helps her be fearless… but what happens when she realizes she’s the same woman she’s always been?
JUST GO with IT
Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler co-star in this film about a dentist who pretends to be a bad marriage in order to pick up women. Things get complicated when he meets a woman he really likes but she first wants to meet his wife to make sure they are really divorcing.
LETTERS to JULIET
This one is such a gem. It isn’t for everyone (I know some people find it silly), but if you’re able to just enjoy and turn off your mind, it’s lovely. Amanda Seyfried leads the cast about a woman who, while on vacation with her fiancé, learns that they perhaps aren’t meant to be while she helps write replies to letters from women (looking for advice) who have penned letters to the famed Juliet secretaries.

THE LONG GAME
This is ultimately a really good feel-good story that follows an underdog group of golfers. Jay Hernandez and DennisQuaid lead the cast in this 50s drama that takes place in Texas.
MARRY ME, 2022
Jennifer Lopez leads this title about a pop star who marries someone she doesn’t know, on a very public stage, in order to preserve her public persona. The movie is a little ridiculous in places, but also really warm and sweet.
Synopsis: A betrayed pop star, slated to marry her pop star fiancé on stage, instead marries a stranger from the audience—a high school math teacher. Against the odds, their sham relationship develops into something real…but can their love survive the limelight? – via Universal Pictures
PEOPLE WE MEET on VACATION
A fan favorite for viewers (and it’s a Netflix branded title so it’s one of the feel-good movies sure to stay!), this title adapts the novel by Emily Henry and follows best friends who go on an annual vacation together and eventually the inevitable happens, the pair catches feelings. Emily Bader and Tom Blyth co-star as Poppy and Alex.

A PERFECT PAIRING
In his second leading man rom-com role for Netflix, Adam Demos co-stars with Victoria Justice in this title about a career woman trying to land a career making deal. The film also has some deeper themes (of course) and is really very sweet.
Synopsis: To land a major client, a hard-driving LA wine-company exec (Victoria Justice) travels to an Australian sheep station, where she ends up working as a ranch hand and sparking with a rugged local (Adam Demos). – via Netflix
OVERBOARD, 2018
A remake of the 80s comedy, this one has Anna Faris taking on the role Kurt Russell played in the gender swapped version of a comedy that has Faris playing a blue-collar mom who works hard to keep her girls happy. Things change when a former employer she told off loses his memory and she pretends that he is her husband. It’s a good time movie with plenty of laughs.
THAT’S AMOR
A life implosion (her career and relationship) is the start of a story for heroine Sofia in this story. Her mother also factors in which leads to her meeting a talented chef. I don’t remember if I saw this film in its entirety or not, but what I did was quite cute.
THE WRONG PARIS
A newer Netflix drop, I’m actually surprised by how cute this one is. It’s silly, yes, but also lots of fun. It follows a woman who wants to get to Paris in order to study art, but where she has the talent to do this, she falls short on the finance front. She lets her sister convince her to compete on a dating show that is filling in Paris… only, well, it isn’t. This sets into motion complications but also gives this rom-com a little twist in the end, and I loved it.

Synopsis: A young woman (Miranda Cosgrove) joins a dating show thinking it’s in Paris, France, but it’s actually in Paris, Texas. She plots a way to get eliminated until her unexpected feelings for the bachelor (Pierson Fodé) complicate her plans. – via Netflix
YOU’VE GOT MAIL leaving April 30
Obviously, this is a must add to any feel-good movies list (even with its expiration date on Netflix incoming). My recent re-watch of this one surprised me in that the movie isn’t all feel-good. And I love that. I think it strikes the right balance without ever becoming depressing and seeing it again has even inspired me to write about this genre. This one is of course the classic hate-to-love story following Tom Hanks’ Joe Fox, the big box store owner against Meg Ryan’s Kathleen Kelly, the businesswoman who’s small shop is threatened by Joe’s big bad bookstore. The story is also a reimagined version of the classic 40s comedy The Shop Around the Corner with James Stewart.

Synopsis: Strangers Joe Fox and Kathleen Kelly live and work near each other on New York’s Upper West Side. Though involved in seemingly satisfying relationships, Joe and Kathleen meet anonymously in an Internet chat room and find themselves confiding their innermost secrets–everything except their identities. – via Warner Bros.
