Hey, bookworms and readers. Despite the lateness for this probably-no-longer-cool tag (because this particular one has a time stamp), I’m joining another tag today. I’ve seen The Mid Year Freak Out Tag working the blogosphere and thought it looked fun.
Despite that fact that I’m joining said fun late (I know, is it really worth putting this together now?!), I decided to jump in and participate. Here’s how Finding Wonderland’s version of the popular tag goes down.
Without any more rambling, let’s jump into our topics.
MID YEAR FREAK OUT TAG, 2017
1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2017
Must I choose? There is so many! Off the top of my head, I’d say, True to You by Becky Wade. Becky may write contemporary (which I often think is underrated), but golly. Her works continue to expand, challenge now only her own writing, they also grow the entire genre.
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017
Sara Ella’s Unraveling, which conveniently, I review today. What I love best about this series is that it’s more about
characters and their complexities than the white-knuckled suspense.
3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
Um, the more appropriate question is, what new release books haven’t I read ?? There’s oh so many. These include (but are not
limited to), When Dimple Met Rishi; I Believe in a Thing Called Love; When Tides Turn; The Names They Gave Us; My Unexpected Hope; and On Love’s Gentle Shore, plus more!
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Do I have to say? *asks in a whiny little kid voice* I mean, really! There are SO many. So, I’m not going to say just one (and since the question is there), here we go…
Wonder Woman (Leigh Bardugo); A New Shade of Summer (Nicole Deese); Chasing Secrets (Lynette Eason); Crown of Souls (Ronie Kendig); Warcross (Marie Lu); Renegades (Marissa Meyer); Blind Spot (Dani Pettrey); Lady Jayne Disappears (Joanna Davidson Politano); The Austen Escape (Katherine Reay); All this Time (Melissa Tagg); Hometown Girl (Courtney Walsh); and so. many. more.
5. Biggest disappointment
Tough to say since I don’t relish talking negatively about books, but my latest DNF book (a very rare occurrence for me) was Seven Days of You. Or maybe The Light Between Oceans which I sadly, did not love.
Bookish Tag Talk: The Mid Year Freak Out Tag, 2017 Edition #FWarchives Share on X6. Biggest surprise
Excellent question. *goes to look at Goodreads shelf* Don’t know if “surprise” is the right word because I always expect so much from these authors, but they continue to surpass expectations (every. single. time.), so… Katie Ganshert’s Life After and Hillary Manton Lodge’s Jane of Austin.
7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
I’ll say, Nicola Yoon. Her novel, Everything, Everything was so much more than I anticipated. Plus, the writing? Marvelous.
8. Newest fictional crush
An easy one. John from True to You. I mean, the guy IS ex-military (Navy). Must be the uniform. (*swoon*) No, in all seriousness, the way he loves Nora is simply beautiful. (I will say, blame for my love of military men is traced back to Ronie Kendig who writes top-shelf, top quality – aka brilliant – military fiction. *ends bunny trail*)
9. Newest favorite character
Aww.. that’s tough. Love Seth and Maddie (Lucky in Love) because they’re so darn cute.
10. Book that made you cry
Ok, here’s the thing. I don’t really cry while reading. (Guess I’m an internal person.) That said, I suppose if there
were a book that’d inspire tears (of the good kind!), it’d be Amy Matayo’s The Whys Have It.
11. Book that made you happy
There are far too many of these as well, because I do love and appreciate books that make me smile. The one that immediately came to mind is A Lesson in Love and Murder. A darling historical novel that’s like a female version of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson mixed with the Canadian series (a super cute on by the way) Murdoch Mysteries.

Thank you for visiting Finding Wonderland
A fun tag to do and I posted mine today :)
Gosh, I haven't read any of these books. But Wonder Woman should I take a look at.
Cool! I'll definitely have to come by and read your tag, Jeanette; thanks for stopping by. And hope you enjoy Wonder Woman if you give it a chance. :)
Um, I freaked out when I realized my Kindle TBR list is over 300 books. That doesn't include of course my paper and hard back bookshelf for TBR's.
Ugh. I relate, Brittaney. How do we let our TBRs get so out of hand?? Guess it's the bookworm mindset and we simply keep on collecting ALL THE BOOKS. One thing is for sure, we'll have a LOOONG back list to entertain us should we ever need it. :D
ooh! True to You was so good! And yes, John <3
I really want to read When Tides Turn too, but I still have to get my hands on a copy!
(ALSO WHY IS MY TBR SO BIG o.0)
Isn't John the best? So much good in that guy. *Swoon*
Yay! Hope we both enjoy When Tides Turn. It sound like a lovely read and since Sarah wrote it, I have zero doubt it will be.
(Excellent question! Perhaps we can both try to find the answer to this.)
Fun tag, Rissi! Also, JOHN. *insert heart eyes here*
Right?? I 100% agree. :)
Fun tag Rissi! :)
Thanks so much. :)
