Christmas at the Red Door Inn by Liz Johnson | Book Review
THE STORY | On this cold winter day, there is two things Brooke Kane doesn’t expect. The first is that she’s stuck in a snowstorm she never anticipated. But here she is. While at the Red Door Inn (which is empty for the season) to fulfill a favor, she finds herself unable to get home. The second thing she doesn’t plan on is the arrival of their village pastor, Chuck O’ Flannigan.
While out on a walk, Chuck too is caught unaware by the sudden storm, and his only refuge is the Red Door Inn. Together, the pair prepares to wait out the storm complete with tinsel, and maybe even some mistletoe.
REVIEW | There is usually a few books each year that take me by surprise. This seasonal novella falls into this category. I had no idea Liz was writing a Christmas novella let alone one that went with her Prince Edward Island series. The surprise led me to immediately buy the ninety-nine cent story from Amazon.

Short though this story is (just under 70 pages), it’s adorable. Of course it doesn’t have the characterization (in terms of depth limited only by time) that a full length novel would, but it’s magical. The plot is one of those quintessential romantic-comedies of errors, and feels akin to a Hallmark Channel original. (Which we all know, I adore.) The pages rush by far too quickly as we’re caught up in this adventure and Brooke’s unrequited love. Or is it?
If you’ve previously enjoyed seasonal novellas or Liz’s earlier books, you’ll want to mark Christmas at the Red Door Inn as a “must read” on your shelf. In short, it’s the ideal read to snag on Amazon. The next order of business is a snow day when you can stay home to read over that next snowy weekend. It’s sure to give you all the feels and also features a pretty swoon-y “first kiss.”
