Good Luck Charm by Kellie McAllen | Book Review
STORY | A lucky charm is something Kerri O’Connor cannot survive without. Her lucky rabbit foot is never far from her, nor is her lucky sweatshirt, which she needs for every basketball meet. But then, her dad is involved in a freak car accident, and Kerri’s luck seems to change for the worse. Then, she meets Connor Murphy, a fellow classmate who happens to be wearing the lucky sweatshirt her dad lost!
In a series of “bad luck” events, Kerri becomes convinced Connor is her newest good luck charm. But unfortunately for her, Connor isn’t as sure as she is.
TV FILM REVIEW | Love Under the Rainbow – Second Chance Romance in Bright Colors!
Reading this book is a cute experience, but for me, it isn’t a favorite “hidden gem” YA novel. There’s lots of fun happenings, and I like Kerri and Connor, but I don’t always love their journey of becoming an “us.” I think the “luck” trope goes a little too far away from reality, but do appreciate that it’s a read for St. Patrick’s day, and I suspect is all about having fun with its freedom in the March 17 bubble.
There’s a solid familial relationship for Kerri, and those who like sports will find the basketball portions of the story fun too. In the end, the book is short with an easy to fall into, fast-pace and of course, it’s cute; and I do prefer this story over the previous valentine day themed romance. With a cute cover, a spunky heroine, and fun personality, Good Luck Charm is a nice weekend read for those looking for something without a great deal of commitment.
