Meet ‘Enola Holmes’ in the Fun New Netflix Original

One of the most exciting things in entertainment is discovering that something you read about eons ago, and then forgot about, is about to drop on a streaming service. For me, that is the newbie Enola Holmes on Netflix. A movie that is, yes, connected to the Sherlock Holmes world. Suffice to say, this sounds like precisely the kind of fun mystery I love best!

In the case of this new Netflix series, I am here for its vibe, and hopeful we’ll find a fun story with more of a cozy over spooky (or horror) genre. The series, based on the middle grade novels by Nancy Springer, follows the “teenage sister of Sherlock Holmes.” Like I said, I am ready for this. Also, how did I not know that these were based on novels?? I mean, I know these are even more outside my target reader age group than YA, but still… where have I been?? The plot synopsis reads like this:

While searching for her missing mother, intrepid teen Enola Holmes uses her sleuthing skills to outsmart big brother Sherlock and help a runaway lord. – Netflix

The cast includes newcomer (but a rising star) Millie Bobby Brown in the titular role; and star power names like Sam Claflin; Helena Bonham Carter; and Henry Cavill. Pretty sure no one likes Cavill cast in this role, and I’m over here all like, “I like the dude, so I’m cool.” This not unlike the controversy surrounding his role as Superman a few years back. Hopefully all will be well and he’ll still be grand in the role.

Needless to say, I’m so excited and cannot wait to discover this. In addition to being hopeful this means more films will be in the making.

Now, I want to hear all of your thoughts, so… what about you; are you excited about this Enola Holmes on Netflix arrival? Will you watch or have you read the books? Should I still give them a try (despite being way past the target age)? Do you like (or not) the cast? Comment all of your thoughts down below.

Thank you for visiting!
