‘Meet Me at Christmas’ is a Sweet Romance, but Not a Favorite

Good Witch star Catherine Bell plays Joan, a woman who sets aside her dreams in order to focus on her son. This Christmas, Liam (Luke Bilyk) is about to marry his girlfriend, and so Joan’s attention shifts solely her only son. When their wedding coordinator quits, Joan, given her experience as a florist, finds herself roped into putting into action their last minute plans at the Colorado lodge when the pair is saying ‘I do.’ The catch is, Joan also has to work with Beau (Mark Deklin), the uncle of the bride.

As the two work together, they discover, despite a rough start, they may have more in common than just the interest of the two people about to marry.

TV FILM REVIEW | ‘Holly and Ivy’: A Christmas Movie with a Good Heart

Catherine Bell is, I think, a favorite face for Hallmark viewers. She has a show on the network, and also appears in films here and there. Meet Me at Christmas is her third seasonal movie (the last she appeared in was Christmas in the Air). This one doesn’t have the charm of others in its platform, but still, if you want to watch a Christmas movie, then this one has its moments.

One of the most beautiful things about the film is the setup of the wedding. It’s such a pretty scene! Between the snow (albeit very fake), lights and pretty tulle, it’s the definition of a winter wonderland, which is what the scene should be. It’s one of those pretty picture scenarios that certainly puts us in mind of a Christmas movie. That said, this film just isn’t the best of the best.

The script tangles itself up in misunderstanding after misunderstanding which makes it frustrating for us. Plus, this tends to place the characters at a disadvantage; it makes them immature, which is something their wisdom (because of their age) would logically dispute. But again, like anything that is tagged as a Christmas film, Meet Me at Christmas has its own charms. Is it a favorite of mine? No. But that doesn’t mean it’s not still a sweet film to unwind with, and that alone makes it a fun watch.

Content: Nothing to note [this remains, in my view, a family friendly film].
