REVIEW: Book two in Walsh’s Nantucket romance books, this is another reunion romance story that has a lot of history between its protagonists. This story, like book one (which you don’t have to read, but why not?), has a lot of cozy things and characters that make it more entertaining. There’s warmth to the relationships, and eventually, some sadness too as the doom of loss hangs over the characters.

What won’t make the reader sad is the romance. This is one of those longing fueled rekindling that deals with some back and forth. The kind that makes us want to metaphorically (and lovingly, too!) slap the characters and tell them to talk. Louisa and Cody are great characters in spite of this, and the healing the story promotes is, as it should be, a worthwhile pursuit.

Anyone who enjoys Courtney Walsh’s books will recognize her usual signature. One that’s all about bitter and sweet. She always has more of a serious undercurrent to her stories, and Is It Any Wonder is no different. However the beach-y setting (and Coast Guard hero!) helps to taper this. If you’re looking for a book to bring to the beach, consider this one. It looks the part of fitting in your beach bag, and it may just be a new favorite.
