POP CULTURE NEWS (‘WHEN HOPE CALLS’ AND MORE): EDITION THREE

Back once more with a new(ish) edition of Pop Culture News edition three! That’s right, we’re sharing more recent (sort of) news in the pop culture world as we have for the previous two Friday’s here. Let’s jump in and see what’s making the pop culture news this past week (or two).

POP CULTURE NEWS (‘WHEN HOPE CALLS’ AND MORE): EDITION THREE #POPCULTURE #ADELE #PRETTYSMART #NETFLIX Share on X

As I looked through things to try and find some news-y things to share, or things that fit our topic, I find it’s slim pickings. Again. But we’re not letting that stop us from still sharing the things we do see and now know. Here we go.

POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION THREE

EMILY OSMENT RETURNS TO TV

After starring in Young & Hungry, Emily Osment returns in Netflix’s Pretty Smart which dropped today. It follows an “intellectual” who moves in with her sister, and her quirky friends. I don’t know anything about this so it may be 100% NOT my kind of show. But just reading the text (and no trailer viewing), it reminds me of something like Happy Endings or New Girl, and if it is, I’m here for it. Have you watched this one, and if so, is it fun or awful?

LINDSAY LOHAN, PODCASTER

According to her own Instagram page, Lindsay Lohan, the former Disney child star, is set to have her own podcast. Her caption says she looks forward to have “intimate conversations with thought leaders and friends across all industries.” Would you listen to this?

LORI LOUGHLIN TO RETURN TO TV + DANIEL LISSING, TOO?

Last week, the news broke that Lori Loughlin was returning to TV in the newly relocated When Hope Calls, which is the offshoot of Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart. The show will now air on GAC and feature Loughlin in their 2-part Christmas premiere. Then, this past week, the news broke that former When Calls the Heart leading man Daniel Lissing would also join Loughlin in a role that’s being kept under wraps.

I don’t know about you, but while I don’t care one way or another about Loughlin’s return (and haven’t even watched the first and only season of When Hope Calls), I find it very odd to cast Lissing in this. I think it’s, in my opinion, really hard and not in the best taste to bring back someone after their character dies. Many assume Lissing will be playing a different character and he may, but I still think it’s a bit… odd. What do you think about this TV news?

SHE’S SET TO RETURN

I’m not an all in fan for Adele or her music. I’ve heard a few of her songs, but rumor has it (had to) that her new album may drop on November 19. Until then, her new single, ‘Easy on Me’ is set to release on October 15. Do you listen to Adele’s music?

SPILLOVER

Alex Clark has a new podcast, and while I don’t make a weekly habit to listen to it (at least not at this point), I did listen to episode two in which she interviews Abigail Shrier. Her take on the transgender movement in girls is fascinating and certainly something parents should 100% be aware of. I don’t agree with every opinion on the episode, but I do believe Abigail has done her research and it makes for sober listening. You can hear The Spillover on Spotify, Apple and more.

What about you? Have you heard any of these stories? Are you excited by any? Do you think any will have an impact on your TV watching or likelihood to change your pop culture habits (like adding Lohan’s podcast to your rotation)? Also, speaking of podcasts, WHAT podcasts do you love? Share all of your thoughts below! Let’s chat.

Thank you for visiting! Please, do come back soon.
