POP CULTURE NEWS, FUN AND A REWIND: EDITION TWO

It’s Friday, so I’m back with pop culture news: edition two. To be honest, I’m surprised that I’m even sharing a second edition because I don’t really anticipate I’m going to keep this as a weekly feature. But for now, we’re two-for-two in our little pop culture series and let’s jump right in!

LIST | POP CULTURE NEWS (JUST FOR FUN): EDITION ONE

POP CULTURE NEWS, FUN AND A REWIND: EDITION TWO #POPCULTURE #ALIAS20YEARS #SABRINATHETEENAGEWITCH #TVSHOWS #LAWANDORDER #TAYLORSWIFT #RAELYNN Share on X

This week I didn’t find much news-y things to share or at least not much I find interesting. However, here’s a few little tidbits in a kind of “just for fun” weekly feature.

POP CULTURE NEWS: EDITION TWO

ALIAS: 20 YEARS LATER

20 years ago, ABC aired the premiere of Alias, a spy show with Jennifer Garner in the lead role as Sydney Bristow. The show followed a woman unable to reconcile all she knew working as a spy with the possibility that those she works for are actually bad people, and her journey to reconciling secrets and a complicated family life.

BACK TO COURT

The original flagship series Law and Order that ran an impressive 20 seasons on NBC is returning to your TV screens. NBC announced it’d bring back the series for a 21st season. Eleven years later and the network is in talks to revive the show and some of the cast on the show, at the time of its cancellation, were in talks to possibly return.

I didn’t watch the show, but if you did, who do you hope returns?

COUNTRY MUSIC IS STILL NUMBER ONE

I don’t always like everything about country music, but more than any other musical genre, country music is bolder and more honest in its message. Country artist Raelynn who I had likely heard of, but hadn’t listened to her music (that I know of) released a new album Baytown. One of the tracks off her album, she calls a prequel to ‘Love Triangle,’ and share a pro-life message. The song, ‘She Chose Me’ talks of the story from the perspective of the child and ending with a message of this being the positive choice. The song isn’t as honest as I wish it’d be but it’s still sweet. You can find the song on Amazon.

Bonus music note, did you see Taylor Swift chanted her Red (Taylor’s Version) album release from November 19th to the 12th? Guess the Interwebs is freaking out about it, too. *shrugs*

ON THIS DAY (OCTOBER 2): MEET CHARLIE BROWN

According to Writer of Pop, on October 2nd, the first Peanuts strip appeared in 1950. It further goes on to say that it featured “Charlie Brown, Shermy and Patty” and appeared in nine newspapers.

NO, SABRINA WON’T BE CASTING SPELLS AGAIN

There have been rumors that the original Sabrina, the Teenage Witch will be re-booted, but alas, series star Melissa Joan Hart (whose production company produced the series) set the record straight. Following the rumor that a series that pitched the idea of Sabrina’s daughter joining in her mother’s footsteps, Hart said there’s no “reboot planned.”

Would you watch a re-boot of the series? I recently watched the show, and thought it was cute. But to be honest, I don’t know that I’d love a revival because somehow they always ruin the “good” of how the original ends.

SCARJO VS DISNEY

If you’re anything like me, you don’t care about the lawsuit Scarlett Johannsson filed against Disney over a contract breach for her last film, Black Widow. But if you’re not like me, yes, the actress and mega entertainment company did settle their lawsuit. The details aren’t disclosed, but the lawsuit did ask for $50 million and she released a statement saying, “I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.”

Thank you for visiting! Please, do come back soon.

  1. I enjoyed the original Sabrina series and am glad it’s not being rebooted. Every other show these days seems to be a reboot instead of a new show.

    1. I’d watch the Sabrina re-boot but like you… I’m glad it’s going to (for now) stand on its own. Too many shows are “ruined” today with their re-boot. Although I did really like the HFO re-make. Though to be fair I never watched the original, so… :)
