We’re entering controversial territory today. Perhaps we shouldn’t but as the topic does fall under one of my favorites, we’re going for it. The debate is over team “who-cares-about-Valentines-Day” and those who are more “Instagram-worthy-outing-photo.” I’m home all the time on Valentine’s Day but that doesn’t mean I don’t recognize the day by watching something swoony and certainly I have for many years by creating contend centering around the day. Not unlike our New Year’s fashion addition, I’m including a Valentine’s Day fashion ideas post just for fun.

Even if we don’t do anything for the day, it’s fun to look at fashion and the trends. At least I think so. I’m a fashion window shopper even if I don’t always use the little “place order” button. Despite this, one button I do use plenty is “make return! (Sometimes window shopping means making terrible fashion choices.) No matter what type of Valentine’s Day fashionista you are, I’ve collected some across the board options that seem ideal no matter the vibe you’re going for.
VALENTINE’S DAY FASHION IDEAS
THE DRESS UP + CASUAL CUTE
Because no matter what society may say, its ok to dress up and want to look feminine. Let’s start everything off with a ribbed red and white stripe sweater(1) which is cute and fun! Reminds me of Christmas time as well so it’d have a versatile appeal. If dresses are more your thing there’s this free flowing style with a smocked bodice(2); grab a simple black and white dress with little hearts for a pattern(3); or if you like the baby doll styling(4), these is this super pale pink dress as well, all from Love Olive Co. These heart-shaped pearl earrings(5) adds a bit of girlish or vintage flair.

Shifting gears to the casual looks, there’s this bright red pullover(6) from Chic Politico that proudly proclaims “Lover of Freedom and Liberty” or a gray (plus it comes in two other colors) long sleeve pullover(7) as well which has some decent ratings with Amazon (never can tell quality when it comes to amazon). These fun, but casual heart drop earring(8) makes a cute “final” addition touch to either of these tops. Finish everything off with some cute black sneaker shoes(9) and add in those the faux leather leggings(10).
ROCKER VIBES FASHIONISTA
These tapered leg burgundy pants(11) are fun if you don’t want to go the cuter heart sweater route or red or pink sweater standard. With these, pair some ankle boots and a simple top as the model has on. To give it an edge, you could also style it with a simple leather jacket or something like this leather shirt jacket(12).
If you want to keep things more girly but cute, you can never go wrong with a red (or pink! Because you should always wear pink if you want! Nothing wrong with it) sweater. Pair them with your favorite jeans or for a dressier look, a pair of black taper or ankle pants – or go edgy with a pair of faux leather leggings(13). First up is a balloon sleeve crewneck(14) that looks a bit sassy in its “flame red” color; same goes for this, only in the cable style(15). This batwing, oversized long sleeve sweater(16) is a pretty shade of pink and though it’s Amazon (again, never know about quality), it has some decent reviews. Again, to keep things casual, add in the same sparkle sneaker from Target, just for fun! Or find your favorite pair of combat boots from the closet for an edge.
THE STAY AT HOME COZY COMFY OPTIONS
If you’re more of a stay home and watch a rom-com movie or read a book, but still like to have fun with the day, there’s still some cute stuff that functions as loungewear and therefore can be worn throughout the winter. There’s this fun Cosi Set with little Hearts from Target(17) or these Allegra K “elegant” women’s lounge pants, both of which come in this pretty velvet pink shade! One has a simple drawstring and wider legs(18), the other is covered in tiny white hearts(19). Or you can snag a pair of these sequin pants in red(20) or they come in a “golden” color that looks almost like a rose gold. This pink cozy (looking) pullover + pant set(21) also seems super fun!
