‘DON’T FORGET I LOVE YOU’ INSPIRES ONE BRAVE CHOICE

February 7, 2022 3 Comments

It’s a ‘New Year New Movies’ kind of day when you watch one of the Hallmark Channel’s new 2022 movies. Don’t Forget I Love You is a message of finding our brave-ness, and I quite like it.

Don’t Forget I Love You (2022) Hallmark TV Film Review

It’s her 30th birthday and Taylor Jones (Emilie Ullerup) is happy in her comfort zone. She worked hard to build a company she loves, and apart from visiting her father, she has no birthday plans (in spite of an invite to join a friend). At her dad’s, she discovers her mother left her a time capsule before she died, full of challenges and memories. Taylor’s first challenge is to meet someone new, which is more than a little confusing for Taylor who likes her safety zone.

Across the street, in moves Josh (Clayton James) along with his daughter. Quite unexpectedly, Josh presents Taylor with the perfect opportunity to meet her first challenge. Before long, she’s working through prompts that may leave her with a most important gift.

Directed by frequent Hallmark director, Christie Will Wolf, this is a dang sweet film. It has all the right elements to make it a good watch, and yet, it still surprises me. It “hits” me with some of its messaging, and it helps that so much of it includes things I can relate to. Written by frequent TV film writer Barbara Kymlicka, the film is actually better than I anticipated.

There’s a few flaws here and there like pretend (green screen) scenery and the like, but mostly, it’s good. It’s also nice to see Emilie Ullerup outside of Chesapeake Shores, too. She plays Taylor well and I like the cute interaction she has with her colleague and friend as well as the truths she lays on him about using his phone as a safety net. YES! Wish we had less of his mentality and more of Taylor’s in our society today.

Don’t Forget I Love You is a charming little film with all kinds of sweet moments and of course, a lovely premise, too. I don’t love the “declaration” scene, but that’s one of my pet peeves in these movies, which is more a me thing than majority. Speaking of that, there’s romance (of course!), which is something we love to see. So all in all, this one is a good one to enjoy.
