Scott Caan, most recently known for his role as Danny Williams in CBS’ re-boot of Hawaii Five-O will star on Fox in a new drama with Dania Ramirez. The two will play exes on Alert, a story about a police woman who joins the missing persons unit after losing her son. This is from The Blacklist showrunners.
GILMORE [GUY] CONTROVERSEY?
Recently Scott Patterson spoke out on a podcast about filming a scene where his “butt” was primary to the conversation of characters in Gilmore Girls, where he plays Luke Danes, and the camera. He said re-shooting it day after day was “uncomfortable.” He goes on to say it was embarrassing and that the rules should apply to men and women say it’s just as “disgusting for women to objectify men as it is for men to objectify women.” What are your thoughts on Patterson’s comments?
LUSH ROMANCE STORYTELLING
Netflix drama head Jinny Howe made clear in her 2018 interview (and now in 2020, she became the head of Drama, Development) her love for “lush romances” and further, her love of the Jane Austen and regency. This of course all led up to female led dramas like Inventing Anna (not romance from what I understand) and Maid (again the same). However, she’s also now more in charge of in progress dramas like Virgin River and also coming is Partner Track.
She goes on further to talk about changes to Virgin River (which makes me wonder what they all entail and IF this will change what people love about it). Howe also said, about remaining committed to the romance genre, and specifically about period romance she says, “there is a hunger for this type of programming and that there is a very, very avid period, romance audience that I consider myself a part of that is looking for more. Maybe it’s not going to specifically be Regency, but we talk a lot about how we continue to keep that audience satisfied. Maybe it’s a different period that we’re talking about [but it’s] really fun and emboldens us to go there and think outside the box.”
LAST THINGS
Alloy Entertainment, the group behind the recent Netflix hit Purple Hearts will also adapt and produce the adaptations for Kisses & Croissants as well as Katie Cotugno’s 99 Days.

If you like novels by authors like Elin Hilderbrand, and specifically Elin’s, you may like to know that The Nantucket Hotel is at Warner Bros. TV. Although according to one article, Warner Bros. TV did decline to comment. However if you’re a fan of this author you may also like knowing Netflix is putting out The Perfect Couple. Does this news excite you?
Your turn! Which of these did you spy during the week? Did any make you laugh or fandom cry? Let’s chat about all of these and any other fun conversations from the week.
