So what we’re doing now is trying to find some pop culture stories of the week. Really I struggled to find things this week. What this means? It’s a quick round up style! Tell me, are there fewer pop culture stories OR are they just getting too “out there” to really be interesting? Let me know your perspective. I’d love to chat.

POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY-FIVE

If you watched The Chelsea Detective from Acorn TV, you may like to know that it entered filming its second year. This go round as a co-star for lead Adrian Scarborough is new to the show, Vanessa Emme.

If you’re a fan of celeb memoirs, Freevee (with Amazon) will be producing a scripted series inspired by Jessica Simpson’s Open Book. The show will star John Stamos and Katelyn Tarver. The more official line of the series reads that it’s a “music-soaked coming-of-age story [which] follows pop star Sadie Sparrow’s (Tarver) rise from ingenue to mogul, introducing us to the family, friends, and lovers she collects along the way.”

Today I listened to two podcast episodes while writing this and trying to find some dresses to purchase, and one was a Christian centered conversation with a podcaster named Blake Guichet, better known as @TheGirlNamedBlake. While I honestly have some disagreement with the idea of Blake’s brand (saying this as someone who hasn’t listened to her podcast just browsed her Instagram page), I am also really curious about this “culture of Christianity” and if my opinion of it can be swayed by anything which is why I listened to this podcast with Blake as a guest. Anyway, not strictly “news” but thought I’d share. She appeared on the podcast called The Spillover. Let me know if you heard this one or if you listen to Blake’s podcast.

Timothy Dalton has joined the Yellowstone prequel called 1923. If you wonder where you know Dalton from, he appeared in the 1980s BBC adaptation Jane Eyre and also in titles like Scarlett or a guest role in ITV’s Marple.

Former Elementary star Lucy Liu will co-star with Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and Kiernan Shipka in Amazon’s original Red One. We talked about this one a few weeks ago in our wrap up of stories. Described as a “action adventure holiday comedy,” which sounds interesting, right?

Jamie Lee Curtis make a headline that she’s “open” to a possible reunion with Lindsay Lohan for a sequel to their favorite Disney film Freaky Friday.

According to rating reports, CBS’ new drama Fire Country is the most watched new series of the 2022 fall TV season.

November 3rd will feature the drop of Blockbuster. The comedy will feature Randall Park as the manager of America’s “last Blockbuster.” It looks like it could be fun. The more official line reads “an analog dreamer in a 5G world.” What do you think?

If you watch Hulu’s Hardy Boys, one season is yet to come before the show will bow at three years. This final season will feature Bailee Madison. Madison is known to Hallmark fans and she’s also a former Once Upon a Time alumni.

At the age of 96, Angela Lansbury passed away. She was a stage and film star known for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and also the long running Murder She Wrote.

Have you seen any of these stories? Did any make you laugh? Which ones did you spy during the week? Let’s talk about your lists? Comment all your opinions. Let’s just comment all the comments.

  1. Blockbuster sounds fun – I remember when my husband and I were in our early years of dating, we’d go to a Blockbuster on Friday night to pick out a movie!

    1. What a fun memory! I’m in the minority, but I miss going into a movie store. I didn’t have a Blockbuster close, but we had a locally owned store that was a fun Friday night outing and they let you keep older releases for three days so we’d rent a few titles and watch them over the weekend. Those were the days. :)
