There’s also some TV series news and all that which is all the norm really. Let’s get our research game on and see what we find.
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY ONE
D23 DROPS LOTS OF PROMOTIONAL GOODIES
Disney drops a bunch of news for their upcoming (even through 2024) slate of films. One of which is Snow White, their live action adaptation featuring Gal Gadot and West Side Story Rachel Zegler. According to the event, the event, the film is currently looking at a March 2024 release which for me is WAY too far off to be excited (or not) for this one. But… what about you all?
15 years after Enchanted ends, Disney+ will release Disenchanted featuring the continuing story of Giselle and Robert. The story will follow the couple as Giselle becomes restless living in the city. They move to a smaller community hoping for a more “fairy tale” life. But of course, things don’t go according to plan. There’s a trailer floating around for this November 24 Disney+ debut. Is anyone excited for this?
The Santa Clauses series will also debut November 16th if you’re a fan.
Also, Disney-ish related ABC and Disney has its Beast for their live staged production set to air in December. Josh Groban will step into the iconic role alongside H.E.R., who was announced as playing Belle back in July. The production is described as a “reimagining” of the 90s animated film. Will you be watching?
GAC AND NEW STAR BOOK TWO NEW CHRISTMAS PROJECTS
Star Candace Cameron Bure, who signed with GAC to star in and produce and develop projects with new network GAC have their first two projects announced. One will see Bure star in A Christmas… Present. She’ll also executive produce the film that will air in November. In the film she’ll play a busy type-A mother who is a real estate agent. Additionally, she’ll produce a film with her former Full House co-star Andrea Barber. Co-staring with Dan Payne, Barber’s Christmas film will also air on GAC and is titled Christmas on Candy Cane Lane. The film will follow a couple currently separated and the challenges they face.
LAST THINGS
Yes, Disney overtakes the news stories this week, so we’ll just do the rest of the stories, “headline” style.
Amazon is set to “reimagine” in an alternate America (not sure I like this) Butch and Sundance in a new upcoming series. Set to take on these roles are two of the more recent breakout stars which is Regé-Jean Page and Glen Powell.
The Emmys did take place last week. Basically, it was a bunch of absurdity and mostly so-so fashion. At least this is my “quick” look into the event impression.
Following up on one of our stories before, Lindsay Lohan’s Netflix film Irish Wish has added to its cast with Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos, Ayesha Curry, Elizabeth Tan and Jane Seymour. The film will follow a woman who finds herself caught in an unexpected and unrequited love triangle. When she makes a wish, she wakes to find herself being the bride rather than the bridesmaid in the love story.
The NCIS boss is teasing picking up where their former nineteenth year ends which is teasing a potential relationship between Jimmy and Knight. However unlike their prior romantic teasing between Bishop and Torres or Tony and Ziva, this will be one that is “sweet, mutual and forthright attraction.” He describes this upcoming year as the “season of love” which I sure he means in a broader storytelling way, but this may reinspire curiosity for me.
Fans of John Stamos will like hearing his memoir, If You Would Have Told Me will be on bookshelves in 2023.
As expected, Hulu’s Maggie is cancelled after only one season. While I’m sad the romantic comedy won’t return for a second year (it did have potential), like I said, it’s not unexpected.
Speaking of Maggie, one of its stars Angelique Cabra will head to Big Sky in its third season. She also has been in Life in Pieces, and in Big Sky, she’ll play Jensen Ackles’ character’s ex-wife.
Shaun Sipos is set to star in season two of Prime’s Reacher.
In other casting news, Fire Country has added Michael Trucco to its upcoming season as a recurring character.

I’m super excited for Disenchanted! I loved the original!
I love the original too, Angela! Hopefully they’ll release this to DVD/Bluray since I refuse to buy another streaming service. ;)
