POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TWELVE: PREQUEL TV SHOWS, GAC MOVIES + MORE!
Hey, there! Welcome back. It’s another Friday and we head into the weekend with another Pop Culture News Edition Twelve. This week we found a few things to share, one of which is likely NOT new because it’s being PROMO-ed everywhere. However since it’s a prequel to something everyone and their mother (but me) has seen, I thought I’d share.
LIST | A FEW CHRISTMAS DÉCOR LOOKS AND STYLES – JUST FOR FUN!
Today we talk about TV shows, a new Valentine’s Day rom-com (from GAC) and more. Let’s just dive right in, because what more is there to say? Cheers, to Friday and Pop Culture news!
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TWELVE
CHICKEN NUGGETS – WE ALL NEED ‘EM, RIGHT?
This isn’t really “pop culture” news per se, but I’d seen it on Alex PenaVega’s Instagram page and then the show Poplitics re-shared it in one of their opening segments (they also open with a funny clip from the Internet). Point is, this did make me laugh.
Back to the clip, which shows PenaVega’s two sons in a car, sitting in their car seats. The eldest is singing a song about “love,” and is quite earnest about getting the lyrics right. The other sits quietly beside him before he twice, randomly says, “chicken nuggets.” As his brother beside him ignores him in his quest to sing, the younger says “chicken nuggets” again, and this time, he gets a little emotional about it! It’s funnier seeing the clip, but either way, it was something that made me smile when very little does right now.

Come February, new family programming network GAC will try its hand at more of a straight up romantic comedy just in time for Valentine’s Day. The film, according to Deadline TV, will bring back Jessica Lowndes and pair her up with former Chesapeake Shores star Jesse Metcalfe. The website further goes on to report “Lowndes also wrote the film and will executive produce, and performs several of the film’s original songs, which she also wrote and produced. Production is underway.”
The film is titled (at this time) Harmony of the Heart and is currently set to debut February 12 on GAC.
In this same story, they report that Danica McKellar (which I already mentioned several ‘pop culture’ posts back) and now Trevor Donovan have inked multi picture deals with GAC. Will you watch them on this alternate network?
MORE CONS TO COME
If you’re a fan of the con game genre, then you’re probably happy to see Sophie and Co. return for Leverage: Redemption season two, this IMDB TV announced earlier this week. I have not watched season one yet, but did LOVE the original show and I also liked Christian Kane’s (one of Leverage’s stars) Almost Paradise, also from the same creator and IMDB TV.
Are you excited about this news or don’t you care?
WHY THE PREQUEL CRAZE? EXPLAIN, PLEASE.
For a while now, there’s been a promo heavy effort for 1883, a western featuring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill (a real-life couple) and Sam. The series is a prequel to the popular Yellowstone show. I’ve not seen that one despite liking modern westerns like Longmore or Justified. (Do I need to watch Yellowstone?) However this week I read there’s another modern western prequel in the works – like why!? This one is set for CW’s Walker. Currently it’s called Independence.
Speaking of Walker, I’m way behind, but do we like how character Micki was written out?
BONUS! ‘AND JUST LIKE THAT…’
SPOILERS!
I don’t watch Sex and the City (and am 99.9% certain I’ve never even seen part of an episode), so I am not invested in it nor the revival/sequel from HBO. However, given the spoiler things I’m reading, here’s a question for anyone who does watch it – and I’m genuinely curious, are you okay with what the premiere did? I 100% wouldn’t be after ALL OF THE HISTORY and presumably, build up to the love stories end.
If the original show was anything like other TV shows, I assume they teased this love story out to its max, and now, to stomp over the hearts of fans like this? I would not be here for that!
