‘THREE WISE MEN AND A BABY’: ONE OF THE DIFFERENT CHRISTMAS MOVIES

On a network that has built a brand and therefore features fan favorite cast members in multiple movies, crossover is something that eventually will happen. This is true of Three Wise Men and a Baby, a comedy featuring more than one familiar name.

Three Wise Men and a Baby (2022) Hallmark TV Film Review

Working hard as a fireman and building his dream house is where Luke (Andrew Walker) is at right now. Until that house is complete he stays with his mother (Margaret Colin) and is about to get quite a surprise. Elsewhere his brother Taylor (Tyler Hynes) has been fired (again) not for lack of talent but inability to work with a team. He lives in his mother’s basement and doesn’t seem to have too much ambition. Then here is Stephen (Paul Campbell). A pet therapist with anxiety issues, Stephen is trying but he cannot seem to easily connect with people and finds pets simpler.

The brother’s lack of a bond is more challenging when Luke is left with a baby during one of his night shifts at the department.

This is one of those films that’s familiar because there’s a classic film in the same vein. However for a Christmas film and for this network, Three Wise Men and a Baby is a fun time. What helps this is to pair up three of the more popular “Hallmark hunks” as social media fans dub them. There’s Andrew Walker who has been in plenty of titles and co-starred with many favorite leading ladies; then a Lacey Chabert co-star, Tyler Hynes; and Paul Campbell is a favorite not just in front of the camera but also as a writer. He co-writes this with Kimberley Sustad.

Making this fun is the antics between the brothers as they care for a kid. Plus the sideline stories that don’t seem “big” in terms of screen time, do work up to being important in helping the characters work through some of their failures. If you’re looking for a Christmas film that’s more comedy, Three Wise Men and a Baby may possibly be what you’re looking for.

    1. I always like the movies I’ve seen him in. He’s always good in them and I remember even liking him in one of Hallmark’s fall titles that I didn’t expect to like. :)

  1. I only watched part of this movie and I liked it. While I enjoyed the brother dynamic with the baby and all the ensuing comedy, it also felt like we weren’t suppose to give our full attention to the child abandonment part – it kind of got swept under the rug. I still want to finish the movie, but that will be at the back of my mind.

    1. That’s a great point, Chanel. I think there is some conversation about that near the end and of course, since this is a Hallmark, there’s a happy end. :) Let me know what you think if you do finish it.
