This is How I Rank the Spring Hallmark Romance: 2020 Edition

Last year, around this time, I published a “ranking” of the spring romance movies from Hallmark. But, that publication was in video form on Finding Wonderland’s booktube channel, so I thought, why not publish another this year. This is why today we’re looking at how I rank the Hallmark spring romance titles.

LIST | 20 of the Sweetest Spring-Time Romance Movies

The rules are simple. I didn’t go back and look how I ranked them in 2019 – for reasons! – and I also added in a few new ones that were on the 2019 premiere lineup, and therefore, I didn’t consider them on that ranking list. There’s quite a few of the Spring Fever (once titled Spring Fling) romances, and many of them are favorites of mine.

According to my research, the official ‘Spring Fling’ tag didn’t come about until 2016, so while there are a few others with “spring” in their titles, they don’t fall into this program block. Here’s the list of titles I’ll be ranking – and a couple I have not seen:

1: Bottled with Love (2019) | 2: A Brush with Love (2019) | 3: Flip That Romance (2019) | 4: Home by Spring (2018) | 5: Like Cats and Dogs (2017) | 6: Love at First Bark (2017) | 7: Love by Chance (2016) | 8: Love to the Rescue (2019) | 9: Moonlight in Vermont (2017) | 10: The Perfect Catch (2017) | 11: Once Upon a Prince (2018) 4| 12: Royal Matchmaker (2018) | 13: The Sweetest Heart (2018) |  13: True Love Blooms (2019)

1: All Yours | 2: Easter Under Wraps | 3: Hearts of Spring (cannot remember if I’ve seen this one to be honest…)

The 2020 Hallmark Spring Fever programs:

1: Just my Type (March 28) | 2: You’re Bacon Me Crazy (April 4) | 3: Fashionably Yours (April 11) | 4: Nature of Love (April 18)

Time to get to said rankings; as always, we’ll start from least to most favorite, although also as is the norm, as these are all Hallmark originals, they’re all sweet.

14: Moonlight in Vermont (2017)

Favorite Lacey Chabert co-stars with Carlos Marks, who these days also happens to play Jess’ David in Chesapeake Shores.

13: Love by Chance (2016)

Don’t think I have any real feelings one way or another about this one. It was cute though… at least I think so.

12: Love at First Bark (2017)

Don’t really have anything negative to say about this one; it’s cute and if you’re a dog person, lots of cute dogs, plus When Calls the Heart’s Kevin McGarry plays the leading man.

11: Once Upon a Prince (2018)

This is one I was SO excited to see because I’d read the novel by Rachel Hauck. It’s sweet (of course), but just didn’t “feel” like a solid adaptation, plus I didn’t love Megan as Susannah, which makes a difference.

10: Royal Matchmaker (2018)

I do really like Bethany Joy Lenz as a leading lady, and I’m all about a good royal romance. But despite the recipe for success, this one just isn’t a favorite when measured by those standards. That said, I’d watch it again.

9: The Sweetest Heart (2018)

Another cute one that features a bakery (and therefore yummy concoctions) as a primary location.

8: A Brush with Love (2019)

I liked this one – a lot. I don’t remember specifics, but I’m pretty sure I liked the banter the script weaves in.

 7: Home by Spring (2018)

What I remember really liking about this is the Southern setting, and though it’s the typical girl-comes-home trope, I liked it a great deal better than most.

6: Like Cats and Dogs (2017)

Haven’t watched this one in full yet, but I did start it, and it was quite fun. I like that fresh faces play the lead characters, and the whole house-sharing trope is always cute.

5: True Love Blooms (2019)

Sara Rue and Jordan Bridges co-star in this one, and aww, it’s just so darn cute. Plus, with its brightly colored promotional material (and garden scenery), it’s impossible not to feel cheerful when getting lost in this romantic-comedy.

4: The Perfect Catch (2017)

Andrew Walker co-stars in this one about a former baseball star who reunites with his ex in their hometown. Nikki DeLoach plays the single mom, and together, I have two actors who I tend to like which makes this one more fun.

3: Love to the Rescue (2019)

Speaking of Nikki DeLoach, she plays one of two single parents who must work together to share custody of a dog in this charming romance. Michael Rady (always a favorite!) co-stars.

2: Flip That Romance (2019)

LOVED this one so much; I don’t think it’s as popular as my feelings of it would suggest, but I like that it’s a unique premise (renovation) for this network, and of course, that Tyler Hynes stars.

1: Bottled with Love (2019)

Finally, there’s this gem with Bethany Joy Lenz and Andrew Walker. This one is just so darn sweet, and there’s something “different” about the affect it has on you, all good mind you, but different. I kinda’ love it.
