MOVIE ANNIVERSARY | CELEBRATING ‘THE PARENT TRAP’ TWENTY-FIVE YEARS LATER
✨POP CULTURE NEWS NINETY-SIX: A GOOD SUIT + STRIKE EXEMPTIONS✨ Talking #WCTH still filming, #Suits, #Marvel + More in this week's slow news roundup. #PopCulture #TheParentTrap #TaylorSwift Share on XNot sure what we’ll find from the week since recent weeks have been slim for news. We’re going to see what we can find and like every week, hope there’s some good things.
Also, just as a random aside, for some reason as I’m getting this formatted, for some reason the ‘a good suit’ thing in our title made me think of David Copperfield when his aunt Betsy asks her companion, “Mr. Dick, what should we do with this boy?” and he replies that they should “Buy him a suit.” Anyone else see that movie one hundred times??
POP CULTURE NEWS NINETY-SIX
Though these stories have been swirling the last couple of weeks, I saw another one this week, so I thought I’d mention it. There is executive and critic complaints and talk that many of the MCU TV shows, so things primarily from Disney have affected, negatively, on the MCU world and the film’s that started this whole world. I haven’t seen the shows outside of a few Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D episodes and the entire short-lived run of Agent Carter, but I would tend to agree based on what I see about spoilers. I think when you cultivate any world, no matter what it is, to be that big and connect them so much they rely on each other to stand up, that’s a game that’s going to end up with more complications that seem negative than positive.
On Saturday, July 29th, The Parent Trap turns twenty five years old! Many may count its anniversary as the twentieth of July since that was its premiere, but since most of us didn’t see it until the 29th, I’m using that. We’re celebrating (like always), with some quiz fun.
In this week’s bulletin of “what’s going on with social media,” Elon Musk has made a change. On the platform he famously bought, which we all know is Twitter, he has rebranded it to X and says tweets will now be called “x’s.” Let’s be real, how many of us, especially the generation that joined Twitter when it was the “next big thing” will actually use these terms? Won’t it always be Twitter and tweeting?
Did you watch USA Network’s Suits? I watched several seasons back in the day but never finished the series. All I have to say is, Donna is awesome. Anyway… the series, which has been over for several years now, is making headlines again for breaking acquired series streaming records on Netflix.
According to outlets, it’s day 13 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and day 86 of the WGA strike which is, of course, causing havoc for the upcoming fall TV season and is likely to (and has already) affect many feature films too. However, productions like the indie inspirational drama The Chosen (chronicling the life of Christ and the bible) as well as fan favorite Hallmark period drama When Calls the Heart have received permission to continue shooting their upcoming seasons.
Rumors are swirling in the corner of social media that is exclusively all about Taylor Swift (some fans are crazy!) that 1: she’s gearing up to announce another of her ‘Taylor’s Version’ re-recorded albums (because – gasp – she switched her profiles back to ‘Midnights’ after having them ‘Speak Now’ themed) and 2: that she’ll announce a second U.S. leg of her popular Eras tour.
Let’s talk about all of these stories! Which ones are you following? Did we leave any off that deserves a place? Which ones are you going to start keep up on? Comment all the thoughts below. Let’s talk.
Thank you for visiting; please come back soon
I will never call it X lol. X’s? Is he forreal? it doesnt even flow well lol. like “hey did you see the latest X about that new show?” hahaha no one will say that. At least those of us already using it.
Right!? Who will call this one “X”?? I don’t know I just don’t see how that will catch on. At least not by the majority of users of today. I would guess he’s trying to bring more users on and seem “cool” as a kind of “new” platform rather than one that’s been around for years.
