MY CURRENT 20-TRACK DAILY WALK PLAYLIST

by

When it comes to getting “steps in” or doing any kind of consistent exercise routine, I am the worst. Basically all I do is walk four, sometimes five, days a week. And I actually despise it. It’s not something I enjoy for one main reason. What I would be curious to know is, what is your favorite low impact, easy and simple at home routine? Do you have any routines or programs you like that you find helpful? Drop them below in the comments, because I need some inspiration. Just for fun, I thought I’d share my current daily walk playlist. It’s nothing special since I haven’t curated one of my own (I probably should!) and just let the randomizer pick how they play the songs.

Even though I didn’t curate a list, the shuffle or randomizer feature still did a nice job in that it spaced out songs by artists like Taylor Swift or RaeLynn. So I’m not listening to an entire Swift album and then switching off to another artist. Plus at this point, knowing where all the songs are is kind of like a “marker” for me to know, yes! I’m halfway done. Let’s meet the songs and artists who keep me company on these walks.

CURRENT DAILY WALK PLAYLIST

HEAD ABOVE WATER Tiffany Alvord

This one kicks it all off. Not the most upbeat, but it’s still a nice song. This was originally made famous by Avril Lavigne, this is a cover version and one I’ve had in my music library for a long time. It’s a nice inspirational kind of song about reaching out in prayer.

LAVENDER HAZE, Taylor Swift

Quite possibly my least favorite Swift song recently. But I know most love it.

MISS YOU SOMETIMES, Courtney Shields

An Instagram influencer turned beauty co-owner, Courtney released two singles back in the day, one being this mournful song she wrote about the loss of her father.

KING OF HEAVEN, Enterline

An easy-listening song about God.

MAROON, Taylor Swift

Possibly competing for least favorite recent Swift song.

STILL SMOKIN’, RaeLynn

This is kind of an upbeat, fun song about a relationship that’s been ongoing for years and yet they’re “still smokin’.” It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea since it is very country.

AT THE SOUND OF YOUR NAME, Enterline

From the same artist, this is another “easy” listening experience though I think I like this one better. It has a more “powerful” presence.

JUDGIN’ TO JESUS, RaeLynn

A typical country song, talking all about how a small town doesn’t judge, but leaves that to Jesus.

SNOW ON THE BEACH, Taylor Swift

From here on in, which is my “halfway” done mark, it’s pretty much a trade and switch off between Taylor Swift and country artist RaeLynn. Something that is fine, but also reminds me, I really should create a playlist, even if primarily with these two artists, that does feature some other ones, too. But either way, since ‘Snow on the Beach’ is a favorite song, I love that it basically marks my “halfway done” point since I’m not a fan of the daily walks.

ME ABOUT ME, RaeLynn

Reflective, this is a song that is really far more touching than its title suggests. It’s about a woman realizing that the person she’s with just doesn’t care.

YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN KID, Taylor Swift

While I don’t like everything about this one, for some reason I really do like this song. It’s a fun one and even better, it comes after that halfway mark so I can mark that I’m halfway through the daily walk.

BRA OFF, RaeLynn

Not my favorite some from this underrated country artist, but it’s upbeat and chronicles the feeling (aka the song title) of being able to break free from a relationship that isn’t right for someone.

MIDNIGHT RAIN, Taylor Swift

Another popular favorite of many.

SMALL TOWN PRAYER, RaeLynn

A sweet song about small towns and a genuine prayer coming from a small town.

NEON COWGIRL, RaeLynn

A fun and upbeat country song with a kind of “girl power” theme.

VIGILANTE SHIT, Taylor Swift

Don’t really care a smidge about this song. But I know many consider it a kind of “anthem.”

BEJEWLED, Taylor Swift

This, along with ‘Vigilante Shit’, is also one of my least favorite Swift songs. So we’ve got four on this list that I don’t love. Why am I repeat listening to them?

GET THAT ALL THE TIME, RaeLynn

Another upbeat country song.

LABYRINTH, Taylor Swift
ONLY IN A SMALL TOWN, RaeLynn

Another cute song about small towns and the things you’ll find in one. And at this point (three cheers), the driveaway is here and the daily walk is done.

Have you heard any of these? Would any or are any on your daily walk or workout playlist? What songs are on your playlist? What routines or easy (and low impact) workouts do you love best? (I’m in the I-don’t-know-how-to-get-started-and-muscles-are-dying-from-trying phase.) Comment all the things below. Let’s talk.

  1. I recommend Yoga with Adriene on YouTube! She’s got a huge amount of videos so it’s easy to find something you’re in the mood for. She has playlists by practice length as well as topic or body part. I find myself doing the 20-30 minute ones focusing on lower back, shoulders, hamstrings, psoas. I did one of her 30 day challenges and really enjoyed it!

    1. Thanks, Heidi! I’ll have to look hers on Youtube! I definitely want something “easy” and simple because I “die” if I try to do too much. Makes me realize how terrible I’ve been about any kind of exercise (as an adult) outside of a walk. But hey, I guess walks are something. :)

      1. She’s super beginner-friendly and has a very likeable personality. I wish I could find someone online like her that does Pilates, my other favorite way to exercise.

        1. I love the sound of beginner friendly – this I need!! I have looked (on Instagram) at some of Kady Day’s 30 minute or quick workouts and have, in the last week, tried a couple of those. Trouble is, I hate exercising but would like to find something I feel like does something good and I can tolerate. Just have to find what that is. ;)
