Each week is kind of a toss up about what we’ll find. Normally it’s slim pickings but then some weeks we find several stories that seem interesting and worth sharing. Either way, we’re here and ready to discover what kind of week this is.
POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and THREE
ABC announced its season 32 cast for Dancing with the Stars which includes Mira Sorvino, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Mraz, Jamie Lynn Spears & Barry Williams. There’s also previously announced reality stars and returning favorite pros plus new pros.
The VMAs were held this past week. I did briefly consider posting a fashion roundup, but I pretty sure almost no one finds those (around here) interesting. I enjoy putting them together, but they do take effort, so I skipped out. But the best dressed of the night (according to PEOPLE) were Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. Honestly, even though I didn’t love Selena’s look, I think this is fair. The looks I saw just weren’t, well, fashion. Of course, it was Swift who brought in the headlines with her multiple wins and gushing over her gown and look walking the pink carpet.
A producer has said they’d “definitely” want to make a Mamma Mia 3 film and star Amanda Seyfried did chime in in an interview saying, “Nobody is saying no, but nobody is saying yes either. The powers that be probably can’t afford us to be honest. I hate to say it, because would I do Mamma Mia 3 for free—of course I would—but that’s not the business we’re in. What’s fair is fair, and I feel like a third film is gonna come down to something stupid like whether or not Universal wants to pay the money.”
Did you ever watch Murder She Wrote? My mom enjoyed the series, so we’ve seen it all the way through a couple of times, but the show, which hasn’t been on air since the 90s (and featuring Angela Lansbury in the role of Jessica Fletcher), is going to get some big screen adaptation. Rumor has it Universal Pictures is working it up and writers are already on board to pen the script (presumably once the strikes end).
According to Fox Entertainment president, Michael Thorn, the strikes must end by October 1 in order for primetime scripted drama to have any kind of 2023-2024 TV season. What do you think? Will they end in time for some of our favorites to return?
Over to you, friends. Did you read up on any of these? Which ones were more interesting to you? Which ones did we regretfully neglect? Share all of your opinions. We love to read them.
