POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION SIXTY SIX
Given all of the sequels we’ve been seeing Kate Hudson commenting that she and co-star Matthew McConaughey would be open to revisiting How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, this doesn’t seem totally out of line. Given that this is a polarizing film, I’m curious, would you watch this?
PBS will be bringing back six of its fan favorite dramas and debut two new period dramas. The return dates for all series are as follows. La Otra Miranda (series two) on January 5 – February 23; series three of Miss Scarlet and the Duke runs January 8 – February 12; back for its third series is All Creatures Great and Small on January eight – February 19; also in its third year is Vienna Blood returning also January 8 and ending February 12; Call the Midwife debuts its twelfth season on March nineteenth and will wrap May 7; the final year of Sanditon drops March 19 and bows out on April 23; Marie Antoinette arrives March nineteenth and will end on the seventh of May; finally the much lauded Tom Jones adaptation will air “in the spring” with no other specific air dates.
Despite the recent Disney+ spin off with a new cast, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been teasing that he’s working on a third National Treasure, a feature that would have Nicolas Cage in his role. Would you watch this?
Speaking of Bruckheimer, after its recent arrival on Paramount+, Top Gun: Maverick continues to break records. This time in streaming, which is a record for a movie debut on the streaming platform. It beat the previous film holding the record by some sixty percent, and furthermore beat the original film by “400 percent, while Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible franchise entries enjoyed a 140 percent uptick.” Seems like a solid and positive story to end on in this round up given how uplifting and inspiring this film is.
Like I said, very little to discuss this week. Which of these did you read up on? Did you like ‘Maverick,’ would you watch a How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days sequel? Comment all the comments. Let’s converse.
