Like the annual tradition of gathering around the TV to watch any one of the million (this may be a little extreme, but it feels like that way) TV Christmas movies, it’s a tradition to share a list of seasonal TV episodes. Guessing this won’t be a long-term tradition since there’s only so many things we can feature, but for today we’ll have some fun with it. Let’s see what we find in 2023 for funny Christmas TV episodes.

Below we have witch-y Christmas stories, funny family squabbles, and best friends who aren’t quite sure to tell each other they want to be more. There’s funny and bittersweet, but mostly funny, and in general, just good clean fun. At least for the 20 minute you’ll be watching these ½ sitcom episodes. And if you’re anything like me, sometimes you just want something short and sweet but with a seasonal bent to end the night on. Our curated list of TV episodes is perhaps where you’ll find that.
CHAOTC BUT FUN CHRISTMAS TV EPISODES
8 SIMPLE RULES
EPISODE: Season One, Episode 12
Everything goes wrong in this 1/2 sitcom episode. This includes Paul being unable to find ideal gifts; Cate getting a bit too invested in her Christmas church solo; and Kerry wanting to keep a stray dog.
BOY MEETS WORLD
EPISODE: Season One, Episode 10
A gift that means well goes terribly wrong.
CORNER GAS (ANIMATED)
EPISODE: Season Three, Episode 11
One of the niche Canadian shows, this animated series is funny. It has seriously made me laugh out loud where most TV shows don’t. This one is set at Christmas and involves a squad car getting decked in tinsel, people faking illness, and overexcitement for some Christmas light.
FAMILY MATTERS
EPISODE: Season Two, Episode 13
Trying to find that elusive toy and a shattered ornament makes up the plot of this one, as does a lonely Steve Urkel when he’s banished (what else is new?) from visiting the Winslow family.
FULL HOUSE
EPISODE: Season Two, Episode 9
Misadventure abounds in this episode titled “Our Very First Christmas Show,” when the Christmas trip Danny spent months planning goes awry and ends in his girls crying, and being stuck in a baggage claim room!
THE HOLIDAY SHIFT (ROKU SERIES)
This entire five-episode sitcom is all about Christmas and the month leading into it. It’s a charming little Roku original that will delight anyone wanting something cute and fun to enjoy an episode a day as we head into Christmas day. Plus even though it’s five ½ episodes, it encompasses all the perfect Christmas-y feels.
HOPE & FAITH
EPIOSDE: Season One, Episode 11
I haven’t seen this show, but it looks like it could be a good time. In this case, this eleventh episode of its first of three seasons features a seasonal pageant, which I’m sure has a bump or two along the way.
HOT IN CLEVELAND
EPISODE: Season Six, Episode 7
Depending on the kind of show you like, this one is full of fun laughs. In this episode Melanie gets into a fight with the neighbor about decor, Joy finds she’s lonely without a mother figure, and Victoria gest into a squabble width one of her exes over the rights to a movie she shot years ago.
SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH
EPISODE: Season One, Episode 11
This one includes a Christmas Eve catnapping according to its synopsis!
STEP BY STEP
EPISODE: Season Three, Episode 11
Mistaken assumptions over who is buying one of the toys for one of their kids causes some last minute Christmas shopping panic in this family episode.
‘TIL DEATH
EPISODE: Season Four, Episode 4
Working as a mall Santa, and a married couple trying to outdo one another in a competition to not complains forms the plot of this episode.
BONUS! THE SISTER BONIFACE MYSTERIES
On the eve of its eventual series three full season drop, on BritBox, you can watch the 2023 Christmas special and first for this series. I haven’t seen it (yet), but knowing Sister Boniface, I’m sure there’s plenty of fun shenanigans as she and her crime fighting buddies fight crime (a stolen jewel is involved) during a record cold winter.
