‘LIFT’: NETFLIX CAPER FILM ENTERTAINS
With a popular name in comedy taking top billing credit and producing, Lift is a flick worth seeing if you like caper-esque adventure.
Lift (2024) Netflix Film Review
Running a crew of thieves is something Cyrus Whitaker (Kevin Hart) makes look easy. He also has the best of the best that operate smoothly and without detection. Or almost. Interpol Agent Abby Gladwell (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is the one person who gets close to capturing the man and his crew when, during a week, a business week at that, she is unknowingly romanced by Cyrus.
Now she’s out for revenge and looking to finally catch them. Only she misses the chance during their latest heist. Her shot again comes when her boss (Sam Worthington) requests she work with Cyrus on a heist that will stop a terrorist.
FILM REVIEW | ‘NATIONAL TREASURE’: A REALLY FUN ADVENTURE FROM DISNEY
‘LIFT’: NETFLIX CAPER FILM ENTERTAINS. #KevinHart stars and produces in this #Netflix film. #LiftonNetflix #NetflixMovie Share on XLike almost anything of the style or genre, Lift is easy to fall into. It’s entertaining and fun and all around ideal night in viewing. It’s something in line with the likes of The Thomas Crown Affair or The Italian Job and like both of those, this too has an impossible not to enjoy plot.
This one is actually a bit more unique because of its air element. From there everything is quite the same including the gang of characters and the quirks they all have. This includes Magnus (Billy Magnussen) safecracker extraordinaire who is always a little bit crazy. Then there is Mi-Sun (Kim Yun-jee), the gang’s resident tech genius. Everyone plays a role in the sophisticated caper and they’re all quite fun. Also in the cast is Burn Gorman who some may recognize from British period drama. Plus it’s great fun to see Kevin Hart take on a more serious role after playing in comedic titles.
One film that I didn’t see much hype for, but assumed would be one of those easy to enjoy and be entertained by. I love the caper style concept! It’s a high concept that has excitement but not dark mystery, which I appreciate, too. Nothing more really needs to be said about the film. The movie is quite simply a good time.
You can exclusively stream Lift on Netflix.

Content: The movie contains some profanity and a crude joke or two. Two people discuss their intimate week, but never in detail. In a comedy sequence a woman pretends she’s having sex (moaning, noises, etc.) while trying to buy a teammate time to complete a job. There is some violence and threats (with weapons and an animal); a man is hanging upside down and receives threats from a bad dude (the violence is off screen). Later a woman is shot (on screen). The film is PG-13.
