‘ALWAYS AMORE’: HEALING WITH A LOVE STORY

by

Part of the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries lineup, good food and grief make up the story of Always Amore. We meet Elizabeth (Autumn Reeser), a mother struggling to be a good parent and keep alive her husband’s dream. Gone three years now, she doesn’t want to let go of the restaurant he built, nor does she want to change his vision or recipes, but she has a business partner who has other ideas.

This means into their lives walks Ben (Tyler Hynes), a professional restaurant consultant whose work is successful in the restaurant industry. With fresh ideas, but also a passion for helping to honor what the owners want, Elizabeth may find that not all of Ben’s ideas are wrong…

TV FILM REVIEW | ‘A PICTURE OF HER’: A SWEET ROMANCE

One of the more serious, bittersweet dramas from Hallmark, Always Amore makes a mistake or two, but is mostly a solid drama. Part of what anchors the film is the cast. It’s led by Autumn Reeser and Tyler Hynes, both of whom are familiar faces who have over a dozen titles between them. They’re good together too, and think Hynes is very good in this role, playing someone who is patient with Elizabeth.

For the most part, I think the script is well written and I appreciate that the film allows for grief while also coming to respect and understand the need for change. The writing does use the misunderstanding trope which isn’t my favorite kind of romantic climax, but this is a TV film, and like we anticipate, everything still works out.

Memorable even with its more emotional elements, Always Amore is worth watching if there’s a replay. It won’t suit everyone who watches films on the network because it’s more serious. It all ends well though which is still the hallmark of this network.
