✨POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY-NINE: HOLLYWOOD AND ROYAL DIARIES✨ Recapping the #PopCulture stories from the week. #Hollywood #Royals #KateMiddleton #Ghosts Share on XDoesn’t really feel like we’ve had luck the last couple of weeks finding stories, or at least easy luck. We’ve had to seek out stories a bit more and search for things that work. We’re about to investigate stories for this week, all in the hope we’ll have an easier time this time around.
POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and TWENTY-NINE
HOLLYWOOD’S BIG NIGHT
Much of the pop culture stories from the week have been revolving around Hollywood’s big night which was Sunday’s Oscar shows. Based on Instagram clips and photos, there was nudity, questionable fashion and of course, a pink party when Ryan Gosling donned a sparkly pink suit to perform ‘I’m Just Ken.’ A performance that was perhaps the most anticipated.
LIST | THE TOP-STREAMED SHOWS ARE AT LEAST FIVE YEARS OLD AND THE INTERNET ASKS WHY?
Between it and the little “rift” play between Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling as they presented (she starred in Oppenheimer, and he in, obviously, Barbie, and they will star together in this summer’s The Fall Guy), the show gathered its largest audience in four years. Many headlines are speculating on this being because of the summer battle that was Oppenheimer and Barbie.
LAST THINGS
Another big trending story is the “doctored” photo from Kensington Palace of Kate Middleton and her three children. Conspiracies were already swirling about not seeing Kate after her reported surgery early in the year, and this only kicked those into high gear. I honestly find conspiracies exhausting. While I’m no fan of the royals, no matter what their name is, I do think it’s unfair of the public to think they have to see Kate when the original statement said she wouldn’t be out and about until Easter, and would focus on healing. It seems a little premature (and weird?) to go on some sort of obsessive “where is she” campaign. HouseInHabit also has posted that Kate’s absence is indeed health related after having three sources confirm.
CBS hands two fan favorite shows (on a drama, the other comedy) season renewals on the heels of their latest (albeit delayed) premieres; Fire Country and Ghosts will be back!
In a continued partnership with Netflix, Jennifer Lopez will star in Atlas, which will follow her lead role in their action pic The Mother, which did quite well. The teaser dropped this week, too.
Adding to the NCIS: Origins cast, which we’ve talked about a couple of weeks ago, is Mariel Molino. She’ll be playing Special Agent Lala Dominguez, “a former Marine with a dark sense of humor.” According to CBS, we also learn “when a tormented Leroy Jethro Gibbs joins her team, the ensuing story between these two enigmatic outsiders is filled with sparks and turns that will keep the audience guessing.”
If you’re into the whole Taylor Swift Eras tour obsession, you can now stream the concert at home. The show is now available to stream on Disney+. The film was already available to rent back in December, but now it will be streaming ready.
Also in streaming news, the Lindsay Lohan comedy Irish Wish is now streaming on Netflix. Will you be watching?
