Love in Zion National: a National Park Romance (2023) Hallmark Film Review

Curator at a museum in Denver, Lauren (Cindy Busby) is excited about an ancient vase trio left to the museum by one of its fondest patrons. But in her cataloging and research, Lauren discovers there is a missing fourth vase, and it’s one she wants to recover. Or she did until a relative contests the will. Now, Lauren decides on her own to head to Zion, the place her mother loved best, in the hopes a journal will guide her to find the lost vase. What she doesn’t expect is the history lesson her guide, Adam Proudstar (David Gridley) provides on this trip. love in zion national

It’s been a while since I’ve seen Cindy Busby in anything (perhaps her last Christmas film). I tend to like most of her movies, and while this one is cute, it’s not dynamic. I like some of the elements of the film like the pretty scenery (whether real or fake, it still looks pretty) and to an extent, I like the historical aspect. Nonetheless, I don’t think the script is the best, and the whole “being home” angle just didn’t feel necessary. Likely this is because it’s more a “passing” question rather than Lauren convincing us she too felt this as a good change.

The romance is virtually nonexistent which is totally fine, but then I wish this had a different ending. More in line with so many of the Hallmark movies rather than the “perfect bow” ending. The cast I don’t think had much “connection” either. Beyond all of this, there’s not much additional to say about the film. It’s a nice time for anyone who wants to visit National parks, but hasn’t yet, or if you just like the cast. Fans of the network will find a cute movie to watch on that family movie night, especially if you like ones that looks beyond just a hate-to-love trope. love in zion national

Content: nothing to note. The film is the usual TV-G rating.
