ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL

A show still airing today, this remake of the popular 70s show is darling. It’s set in a small town, and follows vets instead of a doctor, but is still nonetheless a good fit. Plus if you like Doc Martin, consider giving this ITV drama a chance. Stream on Acorn TV

BAD MOVE

DR. QUINN, MEDICINE WOMAN

Pretty sure I watched some of this back in the day, but don’t remember what it’s like. Jane Seymour plays the titular character who fights for patients and to make it in a world where female doctors aren’t as welcomed. It’s set in the 1800s if I remember right. Stream on Freevee, Hallmark Movies Now or Pluto TV

HART OF DIXIE

This one is vastly different because it’s an American show and if you watch both, you know American vs British TV, well, it’s VERY different. But the plot is similar about Rachel Bilson’s doctor Zoe Hart who moves to nowhere Alabama and tries to fit in with a group of people with whom she shares nothing in common. Stream on Freevee

A period drama yes, but this one is about small village life and features a teen girl who moves from Lark Rise to the more refined village of Candleford. Stream on BritBox and the Roku Channel
