IT’S RAINING BOOKS: EIGHT TITLES WITH WEATHER THEMES

A few weeks ago, we went to our shelf to find some covers that use water as a design element or maybe was part of the story or title. Today we’re talking about books that use weather as a part of its design. I’m not sure if we’ll find them all based on title or design, but maybe we’ll end up with a hodgepodge of both, which is okay since the title is, in some sense, also a part of the design.

Like our water theme, this one can be a kind of literal storm (and some of these will be) or a more metaphorical use, or perhaps even both. First we have to head up to the bookshelf and see what we can find. I’m not sure from memory I can think of the books in said place that apply. Then we’ll compile them on this list and share if we’ve read them and if so, what did we think. Let’s get to searching those bookcases!

BOOKS THAT use WEATHER

NO JUDGEMENTS, MEG CABOT

A hurricane factors into this Meg Cabot novel which looks like it would still be a breezy and fun read. Goodreads

MEET THE SKY, MCCALL HOYLE

An arc I received from Blink, I don’t think I read this one, but as the cover would imply, it does involve a hurricane! Goodreads

EIGHT PERFECT HOURS, LIA LOUIS

Snowstorms cause some headaches in this seasonal (and winter-y) novel by the popular author. Goodreads

MY FACE TO THE WIND: THE DIARY OF SARAH JANE PRICE

A Dear America book, and one that throws it back to my childhood reading. Goodreads

BEYOND THE GATHERING STORM, JANETTE OKE

Read these so long ago but this is, I think, a kind of add on book to the original When Calls the Heart novels (and yes, those are the ones the Hallmark series is loosely based on). It follows the main characters children as adults. Goodreads

SURVIVAL IN THE STORM: THE DUST BOWL DIARY OF GRACE EDWARDS

Read these Dear America books years ago and now I’m thinking about it, I’m also wondering if I read every one on my shelf. Either way, this one chronicles the dust bowl in a fictionalized story. Goodreads

OH, THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL, SUSAN MAY WARREN

A snowstorm wrecks some havoc here as does a traumatic event. Goodreads

EVERY STORM, LORI WICK

Read this one so long ago. But it’s a novel that has ‘storm’ in its title even if the cover doesn’t depict one. Goodreads

Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Would you read any? Which ones did you feature today? Sound off below in the comment section.

    1. Those were two of my favorite authors. Lori Wick was probably one of my first “adult” authors I ever read, too, so someday I want to read one of hers again even if just for pure nostalgia. ;)
