POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and FORTY-TWO
Not one, but two stories about the new family TV network, Great American Family made headlines this week. First is the news that Alexa PenaVega and Carlos PenaVega (who are real-life marrieds) will co-star in the (working title) film Love at the Kettle. The film will kick of the network’s 2024 Christmas content in late October. Secondly, the network’s first mystery film with Candace Cameron Bure has a release date which is October 13th. The film will follow Bure as Ainsley McGregor, a former criminologist who rediscovers her love of the work when she’s pulled into a murder mystery.
In Hallmark news, Lacey Chabert and Brennan Elliott will reunite for one of the network’s Fall into Love originals currently titles His & Hers. This will be the pairs tenth time teaming up which also includes the mystery movies Crossword Mysteries and the All My Love duo. The film will follow a married couple, both lawyers, who find they are on opposite sides of a divorce when they represent the two people divorcing. Chabert will also be seen in the Countdown to Christmas 2024 campaign in The Christmas Quest.

POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-TWO: ALL THINGS MUST END + MORE MAGIC. Recapping #PopCulture stories of the week. #LaceyChabert #CandaceCameronBure #Moana #PracticalMagic #ErasTour Share on XNot arriving in theaters until summer 2026 (seeming film releases out so far makes me depressed because it feels like we don’t need information about the films until a mere months before its release), but Disney’s live action film Moana has found its titular character in the teenage Australia actress Catherine Laga’aia.
According to the movie rumor mill, Miles Teller will be stepping into the role that made Richard Gere famous in a remake of An Officer and a Gentleman from Paramount. The original film from 1982 won Oscars and was one of the biggest films of the year.
After rumors and speculation (of extending into 2025) all around, Taylor Swift, during her 100th show on the 13th in Liverpool announced that the Eras Tour would end in 2024.
If you liked Amazon Prime’s My Spy, the film is getting a sequel this summer (in July) and will this time feature a teen Sophie dragging the CIA agent (whom she outwitted in his surveillance of her family in the first flick) JJ to chaperone her field trip. The trailer made its debut this week.
According to multiple headline reports (and perhaps the story that made social media most giddy), Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are “in negotiations” to return for a sequel to Practical Magic. The original film released in 1998, and Warner Brothers X (aka Twitter) page even confirms that a sequel is coming. Later Kidman did say she and Bullock would be back, but makes me wonder, will it be more an appearance or will they be the story?

I hope taylor swift takes a nice long break. that woman doesn’t STOP haha she must be exhausted
Right? I would be! Even though I love the idea of seeing some of the places of her tour stops, the idea of hopping from place to place each week exhausts me.
