POP CUTLURE NEWS: EDITION ELEVEN
1: AMAZON’S LEE CHILD ADAPTATION COMES TO SERIES FORMAT
Remember when Tom Cruise played the character Jack Reacher in two films? Well, Amazon has adapted the books for their platform, casting a 6-foot-something actor, Alan Ritchson, to play the role in a more accurate representation of the character. The official synopsis reads:
“Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with. One thing above all is for sure: They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.”
Shortening the title to simple Reacher, the series showrunner is Nick Santora from Scorpion (!!) and co-stars Kristin Kreuk, Willa Fitzgerald and Bruce McGill along with any number of additional stars. The series will make its debut on Amazon Prime February 2022.
As a fan of the features, I will say, this does look good.
2: CHILD STAR TO MARRY
After a rough young adulthood, it looks as though, perhaps, Lindsay Lohan is finding balance and making healthier choices. Not only is she working on a brand-new Netflix film (likely due next Christmas), she’s also just announced she’s engaged! There’s next to nothing known about her to-be-husband. She has comments off on her engagement announcement and her fiancé has a private, small Instagram account.
3: JOHANSSON ‘GHOSTED’ EVANS
Despite their collaborations (on more than one film), Scarlett Johannson has exited the Apple+ film, Ghosted, she and Chris Evans were set to star in. According to Deadline, it’s amicable and said to be due to “scheduling conflicts.” Deadline also describes the film as a “high concept romantic action adventure film.” Replacing Johansson is Ana de Armas, one of the BIGGEST female stars currently. Of course, de Armas and Evans were also co-stars in the film Knives Out.
4: WHAT MAY COME IN SEASON TWO OF HULU’S POPULAR NEW SHOW…
As it’s only just begun to film, season two of Only Murders in the Building won’t arrive until late (?) 2022, however, to Entertainment Weekly, its co-creator John Hoffman wouldn’t give specific plot details, but he did say that “‘Only Murders in the Building’ is going in a ‘bigger direction’ for its second season.” Today’s pop culture page speculate that season two will address many “loose ends” however Hoffman did say that each chapter will focus on one “key murder.”
Additionally, news was announced that Cara Delevingne is joining as a “series regular.” Rumor has it, her character will be named Alice, who is described as “a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery.”

Excited for another season of Only Murders in the Building, although Cara Delevingne has never really impressed me as an actor!
Uh-oh! That could spell danger. (I know that feeling of being disappointed in casting.) I think I’ve only seen her in one… or maybe two movies? Not sure. Time will tell if she’s a good fit I guess. :)
