CHRISTMAS FICTION COMING TO SHELVES IN 2024

Christmas fiction 2024 is coming to our store shelves (again) as the end of (another) year approaches. Like every year, saltiness is my normal mode as the idea of curating Christmas content is annoying. However when it involves books it’s less about annoyance and more “let’s talk books.” While this list is probably late (even on this first day of Autumn) for the normal of Internet rules for Christmas reveals and content, it’s way too early for us so we’re splitting the difference, I guess. Either way, let’s jump into today’s list.

LIST | WHO PLAYED BATMAN BEST? FEATURING THE MEN PLAYING BATMAN

On the agenda is spotlighting all of the Christmas-y novels heading to your shelves this season. While in truth this won’t be all of the Christmas fiction or Christmas book releases of 2024, it’s still a good start. Sometimes that’s all we need before the domino effect reveals itself. Let’s discover (though likely none will be new to you!) what books you can add to your shelf of the seasonal variety.

KISS ME at CHRISTMAS, JENNY BAYLISS

in stores September 24

Described as part White Christmas, this novel follows a lonely woman during the Christmas season. The plot also promises to be very adult (a one-night stand), be about a couple with some maturity (aka people with some years behind them), and a kind of nod to Nora Ephron. Author Jenny Bayliss is no stranger to the seasonal fiction game though so likely this will delight many. Goodreads

Note: this is secular adult fiction and is likely PG-13 or R

THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME of the YEAR, ALLY CARTER

in stores September 24

This one sounds WAY too fun. It follows a cozy mystery writer who has a kind of rivalry with an author who writes thrillers. They unexpectedly spend time together when they receive a mysterious invite to an English house party where someone mysteriously disappears! Goodreads

Note: this is secular adult fiction and is likely a PG-13 rating

THE CHRISTMAS YOU FOUND ME, SARAH MORGENTHALER

in stores September 24

Penned by an author many readers enjoy, this is a “slow burn” story that follows that romance with some “holiday magic” and a “found family.” The story will be about a woman looking to heal from her dissolved marriage and the single father she never would expect to walk into her life. Goodreads

Note: this is secular adult fiction and is likely PG-13 or R

THE CHRISTMAS CATCH, TONI SHILOH

in stores September 24

High school sweethearts reunite in this novel about a benched NFL player and the woman he once loved. Returning home with a divorce and a daughter both Bebe and Jahleel will have to ask important questions if they have a chance to make their love last. Goodreads

Note: this is inspirational fiction

CHRISTMAS with YOU, TARI FARIS

in stores October 1

Penned by an author who is no stranger to Christmas fiction, this is a novel published under the Susan May Warren publishing banner and will follow former high school friends teaming up to create a memorable Christmas, and perhaps find love, too. Goodreads

THE MISTLETOE MYSTERY, NITA PROSE

in stores October 1

This one will follow more of the adventures or perhaps mysteries is more appropriate of Molly Gray, the maid everyone met in The Maid. A character who always loves the holiday season, in this novella story, we follow Molly as she and her beau navigate the first Christmas without her family. Then a “Secret Santa gift exchange” brings up a new mystery! Goodreads

Note: this is secular adult fiction, and if the first novel is anything to judge by, this is a PG-13 read

This one sounds all kinds of fun and kind of like a bit of a The Holiday concept which is a favorite feel good film of mine.
